Donna Karan S/S 11 New York

i'm not so much into these colors, but i like the cuts and the silhouettes

while this show didn't didn't dazzle and amaze me like her most recent, i did find myself entranced with the beauty and delicacy of all of the clothes presented. the clothes looked so soft and fragile as to wilt away as the models walked down the runway. i loved how the clothes looked like they would either fall off or melt away at a moment. it didn't have the big-shouldered, severe movement we've come to expect from the past season, but it had a quiet whispering movement that honestly took you to another place.

and i loved the one pattern.

couldn't agree more:flower:

Gorgeous show, gorgeous fabrics, gorgeous runway. It truly left me without a breath, Donna Karan always knows how to celebrate women beauty and make a lady feel like one.

Ok, well I'm in minority here, but this does nothing for me. This is too fussy for my taste. I expect more slick and chic from DK and she gave us these shapeless pieces with ruffles all over. Plus it doesn't look very modern either.

Hmmm...

Whilst camel, almost invariably, looks rich and luxurious for winter, I think ecru (which, I suppose, is thought of as camel's summer equivalent?) is a far trickier proposition, to get right.

Especially if you're going to trifle with parchment-coloured, wrinkled chiffon with too many seams.

If you're going to do light neutrals for summer, as Gaby Aghion (who was born in Egypt, after all!) knows, I think you need to look to the colours of the desert and add a drop of tan and/or gold and/or pink and/or peach into the mix, to liven them up a bit.

The looks that worked best for me were the few, slightly darker, or richer, colours (the tan, the gold etc.) and/or the later dresses with the dew-drop-like embellishment.

Some of the looks, however, really were dangerously close to Mother of the Bride, IMHO.

On that note, I think if you were a day older, an inch shorter, or an ounce heavier than any of these models, you would struggle to find anything that did you any real favours...

I like the desert colors and the crinkled textures, but it was a bit repetitive I thought.

I like to see what Donna is wearing herself when she comes out at the end, because it often makes the best case for her brand in real life;
This time I thought she looked great, but frankly I found her outfit more interesting than most of the collection.

I didn't like this at all.

On most women (and even on some models as I see), this colour palette, and in an almost monochromatic version too, compliments no skin colour, making even the most radiant face look pale and washed out. Those totally loose shapes do not give an ethereal allure, but make the looks sloppy, I'm sure this would be even more the case in real life, no matter how much effort one would put in their outfit to look well put together and polished.
Oh, and I also have a deep aversion for crumbled clothes. :sick:
