Dries Van Noten F/W 2019.20 Paris

This is it!!! The build up, the colors! The vividness! I’m super wild for this collection! I love dries for such a controlled build up, which he does often. But here it shines, the pale lilacs and greens make way for super flour and vivid prints. Absolutely poetic! The shapes are wearable and accessible. To me this is fashion, and it’s so unique to dries. I’m in love.

So trendy, so gimmicky... So not Dries. Wasn’t prepared for that!
I love the sequined top and look 3. After a good menswear, this is a huge letdown...

Looking at the thumbnails, the shadow behind the models looks like tulle layers which makes the design so magical.

Love the way he plays with colors and pattern as usual.

A master of print and color. I thought Dries fell off the wagon for a while but he redeems himself beautifully here.

I love that a lot of the clothes are more elegant than usual, and there is a great eveningwear section for those unafraid of a little sparkle. I am absolutely in love with the furs, it literally looks like the models are wearing something that is on fire.

There's always a lot of core product in his collections, the patterns don't change substantially from season to season, but everything is always elevated by his sense of colour and unexpected fabric/print choices. I don't find this trendy at all, actually it seems to me that Dries has found his comfort zone, where he doesn't surprise anymore but still keep things fresh and interesting through his incredible taste.

He simply can't do no wrong for me.
I love the dramaturgy of this collection, absolutely adore the florals and the quilts (which, I believe, we haven't really seen from him before?). And I don't know who else could make orange furs look good. I don't find this to be gimmicky at all, it draws on his previous collections and (to me) is very uniquely and recognizably Dries.

This was utterly divine! The subtle floral touches, the sleek tailoring, the comfortable fit! everything was spectacular! Pity that sparkling black to gold ombre dress didn't make an make it to the recent awards season!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS.
The prints, the color palette, the silhouettes, the sheer elegance of every single piece. I love when Dries goes darker, this is truly fantastic

Amazing use of colour and print. I don't normally find the colour purple that appealing on clothing but he somehow makes it look good.

One of the only good collections that I've seen this season.

Revolutionary? No. Pretty, solid and consistent? Yes. Love how the show almost evolves in colour from the grey start towards the end. The pops of colour here and there are particularly endearing.

The colour palette is exquisite. I specially love the bright two-tone orange fake fur, made to mimic hot lava:

This is how you make use of prints in a tasteful and sophisticated way. After an orgy of hideous prints from other designers, it´s amazing seeing one designer with a good eye to choose the correct prints in the right colours.

The only thing that I don´t like is that there is no playing with patterns here. In terms of design is very basic...but the marvellous use of colours and prints make these basics very desirable.

EDIT: A collection which doesn´t look dated!! No more 80s nightmares here!
