Dries van Noten

Laika, sounds exciting!

So it's definitely going to be the tall boot than? Lovely choice. :woot:

there is a lower heeled version of the zip up bootie?......

tourist...i knew i loved that whole look you posted...
aw damn!......

i cannot own this many shoes...i don't even have anyplace to put them all and i only have two feet......

you are right laika...it's so hard to choose -there are so many good ones...
when it's like this i usually just don't get anything...
...

i don't know if i can ever wear the zara's now..
every time i go to put them on i will just be thinking how much better the dries are...
:ermm:

*i'm like you laika...
i am going to london next week...
so i am trying to keep from buying too many things now in case i see something great over there...
although-with the exchange rate it's going to be brutal......

plus i am still feeling the pangs of getting those chloes last year and barely wearing them...:ninja:...

^ awww, don't say that. The Zara boots are so good, and you won't have to worry about beating them up....that is ALWAYS an issue for me with expensive shoes, especially on these city streets. Heels can get so wrecked, I am constantly cringing at the damage. :glare:
I would have snatched those booties up myself, had I seen them.

I wear my Chloe wedges constantly (but I have relatively few shoes, so they all get a lot of wear). I wonder why you aren't wearing them...i would think they go with a lot of your clothes. Is it the trend factor?

I think you should try on some Dries shoes in London and tell us all about it. :innocent:

Another thought on the Zara booties...they REALLY remind me of Isabel Marant more than Dries. They are actually almost identical to a black IM pair that I saw at dc last season.

So i think, like tourist said, they are actually completely different from anything posted here... :innocent:

pretty much...

they do go with pretty much everything i own...
^_^...but it's also the comfort factor...
i've gotten spoiled by my birkenstocks...
:ninja:

alright....
i will give the zara's a second chance...
i did totally love them at first sight...so i should trust my instincts anyway...
i have to work out the sock or legwarmer thing and then i guess they will be cute in a totally different way...
you're right...

they might be super cute with that isabel marant mini skirt...
:innocent:

wow...so many lovely shoes...
and laika- a surprise holiday...that is so exciting :woot:

^ softgrey, those Zara boots look like you & looks like you haven't even worn them yet ;)

really- they look like me?...

...

no- i haven't worn them...it's been too warm....
and i am still having my doubts...

i just have too many shoes...
too many that haven't even been worn...

:ninja:

poor soft...having a shoe melt down....

if you really have so many, maybe you already have a pair of good booties that you like more than the Zara ones? Maybe that is why you are having doubts?

And how many is too many, anyway? :innocent:

:p

*i don't know how many pairs- i lost count..
but to give you an idea...i found a pile of boxes yesterday that i thought were empty and they all turned out to have boots in them...
5 prs......

no-
i have nothing similar...
my instincts are saying they are really good- keep them...
but i want more stuff and the other voice in my head...whatever voice that may be.....
is saying...
you are ridiculous and that is just way too much stuff...
...

but i feel like i need to get a really strong basic black boot this season...
something with a mid-heel...
the dries ankle boots that tourist got are really haunting me...

and then i think that WOULD be too similar...
i should just find them and try them on..
that is the only real way to know...

tourist..where did you get your booties please?

*if only the zara boots were black!...
:(
but even then... i just think that the line of the dries boot is so elegant...
a slim ankle is so much more polished...

the zara's are much more casual...and sort of laid back...
i think the dries are just more me actually...
:ermm:

you can have the zara ones dyed black for minimal cost-- black is so much more practical for fall/winter imo. brown shoes often remind me of summer.

get the dries ankle boots in black and keep the zara in brown, there, it's settled...B)

^ Agreed, esp. since you seem to be quite smitten with the Dries boots. The difference of color - one being brown, one being blk.- is justification enough. Both boots serve completely different purposes, imo. The Dries are much more refined while the Zara's are casually cute. You'll have options, no doubt... ^_^

softgrey - I got the ankle boots at Gimme Shoes on Hayes Street in San Francisco. But lucky for you, they just opened their online store, and I see they have the booties! And since you're in NY, you probably don't have to pay tax, which is good, cuz it's a pricey boot :D It says the heel is 3.5 inches, which is the perfect height, in my opinion

I have to say though that I don't have super skinny ankles, so I'm not sure if the ankle will look at fitted on you as it does on me, if that was part of what appeals to you about them. But it does seem to follow the line of the foot/ankle really well.

I agree with everyone else that the Zara and Dries booties suit different outfits. But I can certainly understand putting your money only towards really good pieces you know you will get a lot of wear from.

i have a solution...
grab that box with the 5 boots, throw in the zara pair, and ship them off to me here in australia....

:D...

then go and buy the dries boots...
i'll post some pics in WAYWT to show you that your boots have found a good new home...
and we'll all be happy ...

:p..

I agree with this, actually. :flower: They are both perfect for the season and they are sufficiently different to justify having both. Also, it's good to have the less expensive ones for beating up purposes.

But you have to wear them....:judge:

...or I will come after you....:ninja:

In terms of the 5 unworn pairs --since you seem to be having a too-much-stuff crisis, why not pair down and eliminate a few shoes you aren't wearing from your closet? Sell them or donate? Cleaning a few things out will make you feel better, I think.

my number one concern and why i really need to try them on to see...
it may just solve my dilemma instantly if they gap...
thanks for the link...:flower:....
but tourist...
are your heels 3 1/2 inches?...
i thought they were a bit lower?
so how high is the higher heel?...

so- last night i did some serious wardrobe evaluation...
the zara boots stay..^_^

but the beaded copper dries may be going back...
i just don't know if i will wear them enough...
same with the mary janes..
and it might be best to put the money towards the black booties..
or something similar...
going to have to make some tough decisions here...

adoref
good plan......

for sure i do have to weed through and try to eliminate some things from my closet somehow...
:ninja:

I believe his low heel this season is about 2.5", mid 3.5 and high is 4.5".

there is a nice editorial in W this month on Dries. he is so humble. it's very refreshing to see someone like him so highly regarded and admired.

softie, that sounds like a wise plan to me. :flower: I love the shoes you got at century, but I don't think they are nearly as good (or practical) as the booties.

soooooo.....

I was researching the tall boots :innocent:

and I discovered something I didn't know--the zipper is on the outside, as pictured here.

my resistance is steadily eroding....:ninja:
