Eczema and Other Skin Disorders

I've been to the doctor,it was him who gave me the cream and shampoo. It has subsided slightly, but the pain is still there and if anything the psoriasis is now moving furthur up me head than it was before  I have to go back in 2 weeks time for a check up on it anyway. This doctor is far better than my last, who gave me aqueous cream  The most usuless stuff on Earth.

Do you think certain foods have anything to do with it? Cos I hear conflicting answers.

miss_lazuline-I use La Roche Posay on my face when I have psoriasis there :flower:

You should definetly ask for that scalp application the next time you're at the doctors.I put it on for a few weeks and not needed to put it on since it cleared. It's not bothered me since(touch wood)^_^

My doctor said it can be aggravated by a bad diet but didn't mention certain foods. It probably depends on the person. He put my psoriasis break out due to stress(the worse it got was around my higher exams) and because usually when i have a bad eczema break outs it's because im stressed.

i heard the skin conditions could be linked to food allergies, a low in vitamin d or sensitivities to certain chemicals..maybe a shampoo or air fragrance..

It can be many things,it just depends on the person.
For example if i'm in the same room for a certain amount of time when it's just been freshly painted i'll get a reaction from the paint.I also get reactions from perfume in soap.It can also be from the chemicals in certain washing detergents.

I've always been very careful with washin detergents as I broke out frequently with bad skin as a child due to that.

I do have both food intolerences and allergies but my doctor hasn't linked the two due to the fact my psoriasis is hereditary from my Father.

Thanks for the advice ifitsnotlove,I'll definetly be asking my Doctor for that :flower:

I've recently realized, after many years of using various treatment products, that the psoriasis on my scalp is less irritated when I use a normal, gentle shampoo versus using one formulated to treat scalp conditions.

I've noticed recently a pattern with my psoriasis breakouts and stress. I had exams back in January and my psoriasis went into overdrive, not just on my scalp but on my elbows, face and torso,to the point that when I slept sometimes I would wake up to find it had been bleeding during the night. I've been put on steroid treatments for both my scalp and body but it's only having a small effect. It's flared up badly on the inside of my elbow again...right at the time I'm having essay stress.

I've never had problems with eczema, but lately I don't know what's going on. Few weeks ago I got ezcema, which was all over my face. Skin was dry and rough, a bit red too. Whatever I put on, I felt my skin was burning. I called my beautician and she advised me to use linden tea and plain yoghurt (she also said it could be allergic reaction to something or even skin fungus).
After few days it was okay (if things hadn't got any better, I would have visited a doctor), but the same happend yesterday, but only on my chin. I have no idea what caused that, I didn't eat anything like that, my skin care is the same...

My scalp is doing much better since I've been using La Roche-Posay's Physiological Shampoo. It's super gentle, my scalp doesn't hurt after washing at all :woot:

I get rashes on my arms if I shower daily. So annoying. I've even tried using a soap-free cleanser, nothing helps. We do have very hard water in my area, I think that might be the issue (also with my scalp).

Personally i dont think that sounds like eczema.I've had eczema on my arms on and off since i was born, and i find thats it more itchy than anything else and it hurts sometimes to move my arms when their bad.It sounds like you maybe just have dermatitis?

I had severe eczema when i was little(before i was about 6) and i had been in hospital a few times because of it,had to use heavy creams and had a lot of trouble sleeping because of it as well.I also have brown marks on the inside of my arms from creams that i have used in the past. When i was in primary school i was really embarrassed by it, and would wear my jumper in summer until i was about to faint before i would take it off! haha

Its come back again about 6 months ago, on my arms again and a patch on my back.My doctor prescribed Betnovate 1/2 cream(betamethasone valerate) and it works better than anything else i swear.it clears up the skin as well as making it less itchy.Wet towels and anything cold on the area helps as well.

Again when i was young,i was allergic to eggs and rye/dry grass,so i had to try and avoid them, but mostly i think it wouldnt matter what i did it would still happen, as it runs in my dad's family. But certain things do make it worse, such as, humidity, some soaps and moisturizers, spring and being too hot.And also when im nervous or bored.

bump.
Maybe you guys can help me.

I recently started breaking out into rashes on my cheeks ONLY. They do not itch at all. When it starts to heal there is a yellowish tint to them. That sounds ultra gross but you have to be close up to notice. I also get it under my eyebrows but NOT on my scalp or anywhere else.
I KNOW whatever it is is aggravated by stress because when I look back, it flares up a few days after having a very bad day, etc.

Now, I went to one doctor and she was convinced it was rosacea so I was prescribed Metrocream which i thought was working when i used it for 1 month without a flare up then I had a huge stressful thing happen and the next thing you know i broke out.
Then I went to another doctor and I was told it was eczema...and was prescribed Pro topic (which I use now...even though it apparently has a high cancer risk). Doesn't eczema itch? And wouldnt i get it on my elbows or wherever its most common?

I was thinking it was seborrhoeic dermatitis although its not severe like in the google images NOR do i have it the one place it should be: my scalp.

ANY help would be appreciated. My derm appointment is only in november.. :\

Anyone got perioral dermatitis???
Help please.... :flower:

I was told by the dermatologist today that I have perioral dermatitis

I just thought I had some harmless blemishes around my eyes and my mouth but the little red spots didn't vanish. The skin irritation is harmless but it it very ugly and quite hard to get rid of.

It is also called Mannequin- or stewardess-disease because this disease pattern happens very often to women (90%of the people having PD are women) who are very spruce and use quite alot of cosmetics.

Now I have to do NOTHING until it gets better I am not allowed to use any cosmetical product: no cleaner no toner no moisturizer. NOTHING :cry::cry:

At first it is supposed to get worse because the skin gets irritated and has to build up it's old protection which got lost. And then it is supposed to get better...

So please wish me luck to get through this tough time without make up or anything else !!! :ninja:

*Bump*

I posted back in 2009 about chronic scalp psoriasis and guess what...I'm back again!

I have tried so many treatments from my Doctor but it is still uncontrollable. It covers the entire bottom half of my scalp and after treatment my scalp is relatively clean and painless for an hour, max.

Has anybody seen a dermatologist about theirs? Did any treatment work?
