Reprint: US Vogue April 2011

(elle.de)

I find this shameful - reprinting a image that's three years old.

even it's a reprint from years ago but that shot by m&m is one of their best works of all time.

So they can buy the copyright of pictures from other magazines, even the competitors and use as cover? I don't think it's quite common but I remember seeing this happen before.

^ It happens very often actually. They buy pics from other mags and don't bother working and producing new shots and voilà! It's really shameful, 3 YEARS COME ON!!! And don't get me wrong I LOVED the original editorial in the first place but come on: Daria could have been hired again AND they could have done a new interpretation of that shot if they liked it so much.

When placing orders for images (already published or not) the client (Elle in this case) must provide detailed information regarding the nature of their
intended use. So Mert & Marcus and their agent know exactly what they're doing.
and btw the image come from and archive content sales and licensing (Trunk Archive, Blaublut Edition etc.) and not the magazine.

wow... Second time the image is used as the cover, the first was Madison Australia Noviembre 2011, and now ELLE Germany...

german elle must be the worst of all the editions. seriously, this magazine is pure rubbish.

I would never spend money on Elle Germany, but I read it fairly regularly because you can always get it free on planes/at airports  It's actually not all that bad. The editorial content is somewhat interesting, the focus on beauty stories is good, and there's at least one non-reprinted huge editorial featuring Eugenia Volodina in every issue  So basically it's predictable and repetitive but not a complete waste of time.

Not sure why they feel the need to use reprints of very well-known images for a lot of their covers when they do have their own original material. I've definitely seen better covers with this image in the Cover Challenge, though.

i almost said thats awesome but looks familiar....really reprinting 2011 pics ru serious elle Germany

this is from so long ago...why? that lanvin dress is years old

Actually this is something that Elle Germany always does.
...
For this year's February issue, they used a pic from April 2012 Vogue US.
And the June 2013 issue reprinted a pic from Vogue China July 2008.
Haha, what amused me most is that they even used a pic of Tiffany F/W 2008 campaign as the cover of September 2012 issue
And there are more to list.
......

Reprinting an old picture from another magazine ? Didn't think it was possible o_O

Someone who has the digital edition, that published the cover story pleaseeeeeeee :cry::cry:
