I got the issue this afternoon - in the supplement, the beauty pages are good, and that's always been one of UK Elle's strengths. However, to my eyes, the way they've arranged some of the catwalk pages is horrendous.
On the afflicted pages, the individual shots are all different sizes, and randomly distributed, some are cut off down the side or at the waist. Maybe some people might like that layout, but I'd rather Natasha Poly kept her chin, or that the upper half of someone's body was included so you could see the total look.
This is a purely personal preference for some sort of order in the display of catwalk shots, not every page is like that - some are nicely ordered.
As for the main issue, I thought there'd be more new ads. There aren't that many - in terms of the main names, it seems to be LV Madonna, Anja Gucci, Chanel, Christy YSL and Chloe. The two editorials are OK and I do get the sense there's a decent amount of articles (but whether they're any good is another matter).
However, I also got July US Vogue today, and it seems to have twice the content while being half the size. I don't regret buying the UK Elle, because it means I've seen an August issue - but when the rest of the month's magazines arrive, they might be much better, so I couldn't automatically recommend buying this, without seeing those.
