So Germany had no part of the Beyonce mania? Interesting! Love this cover, it's something different for them.
I do hope the Cuban feature wasn't actually shot in Cuba, otherwise it would a complete and utter waste of money. There's really just a few random colour backdrops. Mad about 'New Marine', even though it doesn't really suit a May issue.

I love Estelle's cover... so natural and beautiful...

Yes, Beyonce mania is crazy... I am not comfortable with the deals like that... I find it too much... this kind of deal just strips her off her art any credibility... let art talk if you are so convinced that it is good... No number of ELLE covers or promotions will make it better... The sad thing is that she is great and if she has to do than then what's the hope for the rest...

Isn't that Bush on the wall? definitely not Cuba, that'd be like an antichrist mural .. also there's an H&R Block, which is like the heart of capitalist life. Come to think of it, isn't it a bit of offensive to have these elements and call it Havana? uhh.. fashion. :meow:

Eagle eye!!!!! I had to look twice to spot the H&R sign, lol. Btw, don't think it's Bush, but did you see the Canadian flag between her thigh? Furthering the age-old belief that fashion is one of the most superficial industries yet. They wanted a 'Cuban' editorial at any cost! Lol.

The reason why I asked was because Elle Germany is one of those spendthrift magazines. They have this weird tendency to fly their teams to faraway destinations, for instance Japan, yet end up with with a series of shots all set only in one street or venue. But they'll think nothing to shamelessly pilfer reprints from campaigns and other editions for their own covers. That's so weird.

^ that's so weird, I never noticed that.. it does look like the US so that's more expensive than Cuba lol. German magazines in general are strange.. even in the interesting ones, there always seems to be this need to go big but tone it down right before it hits just so it's not 'just fashion', or something along the lines..

I meant Bush the dad, are we sure it's not? at least I imagine he looked like that.. pre-decrepit.

Because random stuff like this would plague my mind to no end, this is what I've discovered:

-The editorial was originally shot for Italian Elle, the German edition probably reprinted this.

-Location is 'Little Havana', a Cuban immigrant neighbourhood in Miami.
-The actual mural is called 'Summit of the Americas Mural', and as we've gathered, it features all the political leaders of that continent. It appears to have been painted during the Clinton administration, because he's on there instead of 'pre-decrepit' Bush .

At least I will sleep peacefully tonight, :).

awesome job haha.. I was so sure it was Bush, damnit!. So that's Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, but how would I know when they're so peaceful! (so to speak).
