The last issue I bought was of August 1998. I so regret they've closed. I think this mag was either the thing that got me interested in fashion or, at least, it contributed A LOT into this interest. I really can't remember, it was so long ago.

Andreas Sjödin shoots Mona, Carina Edwards and Elsa with grey background and black/dark dresses perfect for new years. The clothes are actually quite beautiful and the girls look like the "hot chicks" or the evil aliens in soon-to-be-cult-classic "Dude where's my car". Light pink lipstick which contrasts perfectly to black and deep purple silky gowns. It's a bit stiff at times, but the girls look so fresh and lovely and the light is perfect. I like this a great deal. I'm trying to identify who's Elsa and who's Carina but it's simply impossible - they are so similar I think they could be identical twins (seriously!). 8 pgs. 8.5/10.
Carl Bengtson shoots Josefine Rhodin. Romantic poses, lots of patterns, big fur hats, orthodox christian symbols and sepia tinted turqoise light which adds to the feeling of 19th century photography. Ok, but I think it's rather bland. 10 pgs. 5/10.
James Cochran is good at snapping some cute backstage pix, alright. Jaunel, Doutzen, Lisa Cant, MariaCarla, Bianca, Isabeli, Natasha Poly, Valentina, Natasha G, Luca, Shannan, Julia Stegnerx2, Hannelore, karen Elson and Gemma. Nice selection of pix with white dresses exclusively and several christmassy smiles. 8 pgs.
Iselin by Dusan Reljin. Again, I'm wondering if this gorgeous color/studio/70s lighting editorial is a reprint. Opens with a gloriously 70s retro dotted dress and Iselin with a kind of Farrah do and a sinister half smile that's like a parody of Farrah's old aligator smile. Iselin is a great poster - she pulls out all the classics with a rare adrogynous confidence. 10 pgs. 8/10.
Leona by Kjell Peterson. Cute blonde model in an unremarkable ed. The hairdo is not very elegant and somehow I'm stunned to read that it's Nina Ricci/Miu Miu and not VS. 3/10. Um, Carina Edwards is a model scout working for IMG.Editorials:

Loved the styling and setting. Typical Carl Bengtsson ed I'd say. Definitely a reprint, so i won't bother commenting on it.Modernt retrospektion: Diana Dondoe graces this editorial by Nicolas Moore, whose work is usually seen in Allure (or that's where I've noticed him). I'm not sure if this is a reprint from another Elle edition, but Diana sure bulls out some classic 60s minimalist poses for the gorgeous outfits by Balenciaga et al which are displayed here. Having spent some time scanning old 60s mags, I can tell that they're really understood that you've got to somehow recapture the technique of the time in order to get the right 60s feel, thus it's pretty grainy. 8 pgs. 7/10.

4-page editorial featuring Leona in silk & lace slips used as party dresses. Not exciting in any sense of the word. Leona is a 5'8'' MIKAs cutie.Drömläge (Striking goldLeona by Kjell Peterson. Mona & Elsa are the only models in this ed. It's great, though, I like it a lot. Scans have been posted in Mona and Elsa's threads.

Originally shot for Norwegian Elle. I actually didn't like this one that much. A couple of nice shots, but Iselin has pulled off some amazing eds, and this was boring in comparison. You can view a few pics here http://www.elle.no/elle/september/maxi/1.shtml

I agree with 'Sara' that this is the best issue in a while. Swedish Elle is pretty sucky. But I still get it for the original editorials.![]()
This is the pic that had me very confused:
I can understand the confusion, it was written in such a weird way. And I have no idea why they put down Carina's name. I've never seen them list scouts/bookers before.iluvjeisa said:I wrote the review. Thanks for sorting out the mystery of the identical twinsThis is the pic that had me very confused:

I just really thought they were twins there - I guess it's the strong light and make-ups that make Mona and Elsa look soooo similar.
Also this way of writing is not entirely unambiguous: http://img273.imageshack.us/my.php?image=monaelleswe0079fl.jpg
Why is Carina mentioned there at all but no modeling scout mentioned by Elsa's name? To give her credit for managing to bring in the much-sought-after Mona?
Well, anyway, that doesn't even begin to compare to ElleLyx (new Swedish mag) where they referred to Linda E as Christy T. They need to have some more proofreading there, I think...![]()

I decided not to buy Elle Lyx after reading some bad reviews, but I'd love to hear your opinion about it?!![]()

L.A.Gant said:They used the exact same cover for Elle Canada's December issue. However, I guess Elle Canada is not a widely circulated edition - so it tends to have recycled or share covers. Even so, it's a nice cover.
