Erotico chic S/S 06

hmph...I'm not ready for fashion to be about loud, obvious, overbearing sex appeal again. Just seems so brash still. Even if it's in a less in your face way than the 90's/early 00's. Maybe it's just me because I love the pretty, understated sexy stuff. I don't know.

One of my best friend often wears the most gorgeous outfits.... She's been an "erotico chic" girl since the beginning of time... She often wears fishnets with tiny leather mini skirts, or garters paired with shorts... Lingerie inspired tops with lots of lace or sheer fabrics... Big heels, black leather gloves, lots and lots of mascara!

Very very cute..

This all is just so tacky. :ninja:

I can't see this become a big trend at all.

These pictures posted seem all over the place to me...

it's not really anything new we are seing here.

^ No, it's really not. Dolce and Gaultier have done the whole budoir madame thing forever.

This trend actually reminds me of a few of Tom Ford collections at YSL. Very womanly sexy, all about a tease. Kind of like a cross between courtesans from Versailles, you know, vaguely Madame du Pompadour and prostitutes from Pigalle, but very chic, romanticized prostitutes out of a Helmut Newton photograph. That clash of romance and subversive erotica.

Does that make any sense?

Could you please post some pictures to explain Spike? :flower:
at the moment, the pictures posted seem all over the place to me,
not really going in one certain direction...:ermm:

I can't say Im a fan, and I don't see anything new, that's why I really don't 'get' this being a trend.

Here's an example of what I mean pucci mama....

From what I've seen and read in this thread, it's a kind of adult sexiness. It's more about seduction than about actual sex. That's why I say Versailles and Helmut Newton, to me those represent a refined kind of eroticism.

Anyway, I do agree with what many have said, that this is hardly new for fashion, but it has been a while since designers were showing something sexy on the runways. But, I think in a way it is a "trend" because so many designers, including those who aren't really known for it, are taking various "erotica" touches (like garters, stockings, platforms, sheer fabrics....) and using them in their collections to create a polished sexuality.

okay, that makes sense. I would have never picked this out as a "trend", looking through the runway shows, but it'll be interesting to see if we see this kind of thing integrated here and there more into mainstream fashion. Looking at some of the outfits posted, it seems to me like they are clothes designed with a certain type of person in mind, one who has their own style, and already dresses as such. Rather than being designed with the general public in mind, looking to create a trend or a theme for a season. I mean, how many people would embrace wearing a sheer chiffon slip in public? I'm pretty tired so I don't know if that all made sense...

I agree shopsmuch, maybe this belongs in 'personal style'?

As I see it is more a personal style as well, and not a trend that's going to be embraced, but then again anything can happen.

Those YSL are beautiful spike, thanks for posting

But maybe some of them are a bit more on the 'gothic' side?

Looks to me like the shoe is just too big for her foot and she's trying to hold it on.

yeah I think this trend is already hitting the high street...in new look the other day I saw some preeetty campy looking corsets (in wine and in black) with satin ribbons being sold as streetwear, right alongside trousers, blazers, and skirts.

though I must say this is not a trend for me. at all. :flower:
