I love these. I bought one in Dubai a few weeks ago. A long string with navy blue small glass beads and navy blue tassle pendant. I love it-very middle eastern. I just read in the new Harpers Bazaar these are going to be pretty in this season. What do you think??

where else can you buy these? And what's the cost?

big tassle or small tassle...do you mean like prayer beads?...

i have a couple of thes prayer beads...wood or natural with red tassle...

i like them and they are relatively inexpensive...beads and necklaces in general are going to be big for spring i think... ;) :P

yeah like prayer beads! but the tassle is the most important part. Day Birger et Mikkelsen has one, I'll try and find a pic. But that one is $255, and I bought mine for 25 dirhams, anout £4/5.

i got mine at a small store that carries jewelry from india on st marks place...

about $15 i think...

i think i may attach some small pom poms.. ;)

i think they're awfully cute, i have the day birger et mikkelsen one that impossibleprincess mentioned in green. it's not that costy in DK though.

I'm not sure exactly what prayer beads are?! Are we talking about lariat necklaces? Because I've really been into lariat necklaces again recently.

i'm not sure what lariat necklaces are! i'm still trying to find a pic of the DB et Mikkelsen one but if anyone has the new harpers it's in that.

Wow, Bazaar actually gets something right for once. Spring 2005 is a HUGE season for jewelry. And not prissy little muffy tennis bracelets or brooches and diamonds or whathaveyou. But rustic, ethnic, tribal, religious, goofy, ornate necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. The bigger and weirder, the better. See: Prada, Atelier 11 for Raf Simons, Comme des Garcons Homme, Junya Watanabe, Proenza Schouler, editorials in i-D and French Vogue

Lariat necklaces don't have a clasp.. the ends drape to the front.. kind of worn the way you wear a scarf loosely around your neck...

or there are some lariats where one end is a large hoop, and the other end goes through the hoop to keep it on your neck..

hard to describe... or at least my description sounds confusing.

This is sort of what a lariat necklace looks like. This is a david yurman one.

ahh these are stunning. very strong, heavy pieces...they really suit the mediaeval style that I'm wanting to try.

I adore afghan jewellery - I have an amazing lapis necklace I got in an afghan shop in Paris (its very like N1 in m-o-m's picture above. M-o-m the earings you posted are fantastic. I always think older ladies look fabulous in heavily tribal jewellery.

Junya s/s 05 has some great stuff too.

nice jewelery...thanks for posting m-o-m...

maybe we have to change this topic to just "necklaces"?...

LOL...

those zipper things are funky...

my jaw just fell to the floor. that is wearable art. :crush:

I'm not sure this topic doesn't belong in more accessories, but it's a trend so er...I guess I'll keep it here..
