Ever had your shopping experience ruined?

today was kind of awful but i should have expected it. I went to Brent Cross shopping centre, it's very close to the city, but some stores I walked into and walked straight out. It was busy, people were pushing, and I couldn't be bothered. I got what I wanted and went straight to the nearest starbucks.

the sales attendants in LV, Venezia were very rude! but my hubby & i still bought so many things from there!

Haha we should start a whole new thread on snotty and rude sales assistants! Like Cristilynn said ... they forget they are just working there. I usually walk out if they are rude / snotty. That scene from Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts gets eyeballed in her "hooker-ish" outfit and then later waltzes in all swanky comes to mind! I wish I could do that.
And I hate sales people who walk so close behind you they are practically breathing down your neck. I purposely stopped walking suddenly on purpose so that they bump into me and i get to glare at them!

It can be SO sucky when the salesperson are really rude, but you know you still have to buy from there since it is the only store that's in the city that's got such merchandise.

I went shopping with my mom the other day to this little boutique we ALWAYS go to- she's good friends with the owner and stuff. Well, the owner wasn't there and the girl working was being rude. I was looking for a pair of seven cords to wear around instead of jeans all the time- and she actually said "we don't have your size" umm, yeah you do! So i got a skirt (which I bought and ) and she was commented on how it fit me (even though it was perfect)... oh well she commented to my mom "I LOVE shopping online at kitson and intuition" :gag: Then these girls walked in on our way out (they love their labels!) and were just... Shopping is generally a fun activity, but when the salespeople are rude or you run into rude people it becomes a bad day~

the ladies at escada were so cold... and its not like they were anything special... so i went to gucci instead

i always hate going into gucci because they make me put my bottle of water in a bag
for god sake....its not like im gonna go downstairs and chuck water all over the clothes

even if i spilled it ALL over the floor its so dark in there, nobody would even see

oh my...i hear ya! i absolutely HATE LV at valleyfair. they think they're hot crap because they're LV. in valley freakin' fair. oh WOW...how...great - it's still a mall that houses every mainstream brand under the American sun! not so exclusive! i went in there one time and they all flocked to me because i had gone straight from church - full on suit and manolos plus one of their bags (i forget which one) ...2 months later, i had on my jeans and a tee and they completely ignored me. i went to purchase something...but i spent the money at LV at union square instead. their loss.

and i'm LMAO at the "these were just put on display today, no one has touched them" oh please - save that for the people who look like they want a display model that's been pawed over.
I've had mixed service at Valley Fair. I do remember a time at the men's macy section I asked a girl who was folding clothes if I could see a dressing room and she sighed and said barked "it's over there"

let's just say I looked at a bunch of clothes in the section she was working in and didn't bother to refold them :P I'm an **** I know..

I do remember one time I went into Gucci at Union Square bummy looking with sweats and all and got zero service, so I just didn't bother and left. I don't think I've been back since.

Also, I came into Marc Jacobs about 2 weeks ago to get some things and low and behold Wynona Ryder was there and, again, I got no service :P

Ugh,I hate that. When people are rude you just want to walk out of there, but when you really want the bag/shoes/jacket, it is sometimes impossible to walk away if you know you can't get it anywhere else!

Thank you so much to everyone whos been adding to this thread, I really appreciate it. I've enjoyed a good chuckle over some of the stories!

I love shopping and usually nothing can ruin it (not even twatty salesgirls) unless I shop with a certain friend who time and time again seems to only buy what I've decided to buy first or what she's seen me in before. It doesn't seem to strike her as being unoriginal but what can do you with some people? Tres annoying. Needless to say I've stopped shopping with her.

when the store is "too crowded", when there are babies crying and little children are running around the place unsupervised and the parent refuse to attend to or watch their children, my shopping experience is ruined

once i was in the sales for harvey nichols where you have to basically grab anything you can get your hands on but obviously i was the tallest one there so i ended up missing all the bargains passing people gucci bags, then people kept on asking me questions thinking i worked there. In the end i got no bargains :(

i still remember this and it happened years ago:

i wanted to go downtown SF and buy a new purse. i wanted to take my time and walk around and enjoy looking at everything..you know..a NICE shopping experience. i told my friend that i wanted to leave the house by 3 pm. she said ok...and then she said she was going to hop in the shower at 2:30. i was a little doubtful but i said ok. she takes an interminable shower and then gets out and starts blow drying her hair and taking an age to put her makeup on. i gently remind her that i need to get there soon because i've asked my bf to pick me up in front of the store at 5:30 and as he's coming from work he's not going to want to stick around there-when he comes i have to go. she says sure sure no problem. we get out of the house at 4:30. we walk downtown (only a few blocks from her apt) and i'm already annoyed-and then on the way she wants to stop at walgreens and grab some stuff! at this point i'm thinking are you stupid or just selfish? do you not understand i have hardly any time left to get my bag? anyways i ended up with only a half hour in the actual store, and by the time i got there i was just so bummed out i didnt even feel like shopping anymore. i needed time to try on purses, but i just felt rushed knowing i had to leave in a half an hour. then my bf calls and says he's outside, i bid adieu to my friend (secretly very happy to be away from her) and tell my bf the whole story, and sweetie that he is, he parks his car and goes in with me and gives me time to pick out a bag. but even tho it ended well, it didnt GO well..i was looking forward to an afternoon of shopping and instead it really sucked.

since then i dont go shopping with this girl anymore. matter of fact i dont honestly do much of anything with her anymore.

I live in Chicago.

Around Michigan avenue I usually get astounding service. It's part of the reason I shop at more highend stores. If anyone was rude or tried to make me feel like I, "didn't belong", in "their" store-- I would tell them to leave my vicinity at once. Point blank.

I don't tolerate rudeness, no matter the designer, no matter who you are, how much money you have or have not. I just don't tolerate it.

I was out shopping at Tyson's and I was soo hungry (and had a huge sweet-tooth) so I went to a Starbucks.

I ordered a tall iced mocha and, because they looked SO good, I decided to get a brownie.

I said, "Oh, and I'll have one of those brownies too."
The woman at the Starbucks counter taking my order looked at me : " You want a mocha and a brownie?"
I nodded.
She actually rolled her eyes towards the ceiling and said, " Okkkaayyyyy..." as if I was committing some heinous act.

Not only did it make me feel fat (which I am most definately not) but it pissed me off cause she herself was very overweight but was acting like I needed to cut back on the sugar or something. Hello, don't tell me what to eat

That ruined my shopping AND my brownie...

rude SAs, esp this one experience at Gucci,HK international airport. Surprising that I got no service at all, esp since it was at the airport which, I'm sure, lots of touristy people go through. They were all too busy talking in a group!! I went up to them to ask in chinese, and when they ignored me- i switched to english!! THAT got them going.

Apart from that, shopping with friends. I always feel rushed and cant try things on properly!

i was shopping with a friend at the saks in bal harbor. the associate accidentally spit on my face while talking to me, but the awful part was he touched my face to wipe it off like no big deal. ugh.
