Ever had your shopping experience ruined?

Well to make a long story short;

I was planning on doing some major shopping for myself when I got my paycheck. But the day after I spent my paycheck on clothes, my mother calls me and tells me that we are spending christmas at my Aunts house (some place we've NEVER spent christmas). My aunt has 5 kids living in the household and I was not planning on buying them christmas gifts since I did not expect to see them on christmas. So I decided to take back all of the clothes I bought and used that money to buy them gifts.

I wouldn't say my shopping experience was ruined, but I sure as hell was disappointed.

^^ Omg I would be sure as hell disapointed too! But you will get good karma in return! That was very nice of you

This hasn't anything to do with rude sales people but it totally ruined my shopping ...

I was doing last minute shopping for fancy dress to wear to my friend's wedding and was standing in a deparment of a store that's always pretty empty and I was picking out a dress when I heard a weird noise somewhere next to me and this old lady had fallen over and knocked her 3rd teeth out and her nose was bleeding pretty strongly.

I kind of panicked and gave her a tissue for her nose and got blood all over my ivory wool coat and then I started yelling for an SA because noone was near me (but then of course there were loads of people staring at me like I was a complete freak show. Then the SA came and they called the ambulance because the woman probably broke her leg and was in a lot of pain and I left with all those people staring at me.

I still had to get a dress which I eventually did but it was cold and I had to keep on my bloody jacket and got quite a few more stares :(

 Well that certainly puts the bloody in that "bloody well sucks". Oi, what a bad joke. :innocent: Anyway, just read this, that is a pretty awful experience no matter what the circumstances. You did the right thing though and so hopefully some good karma for you as well as for Allius. Doesn't it always figure that you're wearing white or ivory when things like that happen? The problem with the other people is well see some people panic like you did at first and then jump to action, whilst others just panic and get all herd-like gawking and not doing much else.

Then there is the old diffusion of responsibility thing we learned about in my psychology class. The more people around you during an emergency situation the less likely you are to receive help, everyone expects someone else to do something about it. That is why in an emergency situation they say instead of simply saying "Someone call 911." instead point at a specific person and say "You (Sir, Ma'am etc.), call 911." That person no longer expects that someone else will call 911, because they have been asked specifically to do so.

Anyway, sorry to hear about the coat, hope you got the blood out, sometimes that can take time, but it's not impossible. This is the kind of freak situation that causes me to always carry Shout Wipes with me. :ninja:

Ugh, a few months ago I was with my dad and younger sister in Birmingham (about an hour away) for a hair appointment...I would have just driven myself but he won't let me go up there by myself even though I'm almost 18. It was a Friday and I was leaving for NYC that Monday very early and I had to buy a ton of things that I needed for the trip (especially for when we had to dress up at night). Anyway, my dad told my sister that the trip was just for me and that she was just joining us. After we left the hair place, we went to the Galleria (about 30 mins. away) and got the perfect parking place and everything, and my dad gets a call saying that my sister had left her purse at the salon...So she and I went in the mall and my dad told us to get food while he was going back to get her purse. I got my food, and she decided not to get any until AFTER he got back, and she took forever to eat because she was on the phone the whole time. By then I only had about 2 1/2 hours left, and shopping back where I live wasn't an option because I had looked EVERYWHERE and there was nothing. My sister proceeded to drag my dad into stores that she wanted to go into and whined when he didn't buy her what she wanted. She begged my dad for all of these awful things (Juicy Couture, etc.) and kept the phone glued to the side of her face. I finally got fed up with her and told her what I felt and then she says into the phone how annoying/immature/weird I am (this whole time my dad is reminding her that this is MY trip, not hers). I end up only buying two shirts and then we went to a shoe store, where nothing that I liked was available in my size, which only dampened my mood even further...then my sister bought this hideous pair of PURPLE Ugg boots. I was very upset about the whole experience. Somehow, despite all of that and also the fact that trips ALWAYS end up like that when my sister comes along, he still says she can come.

On my birthday a couple years ago my mom and I were going to go shopping at the MOA. I hadn't slept at all the night before, wasn't really eating, and it was a very hot August day, so I was kind of out of it. Before we could go shopping, we spent half the day at my grandparent's having dinner, me, slowing floating further out of it.

Anyway, it was to pay off when we went shopping. Unfortunately, my oldest brother came with us. We looked around at some things, but he immediately started bitching that he didn't want to look at girly stores. For some reason, my mom let him lead the way down to ground level, out the door and across the street in extremely hot weather over to IKEA. It was opening day there, so it was incredibly crowded. I was becoming incredibly moody. I reallly did not like it there, but we spent a whole lot of time wading through the crowds and waiting for my brother to get done. Finally we walked back to the mall, found the car, and went straight home. That's not really how I planned to spend my birthday. I'm still mad.

oh my goodness, was that the first and only time you had been to the mall of america?

ive never been. but when i go i plan to spend at least 48 hours there and stay at the hotel at the mall. im really going immerse myself there and not leave the premises at all.

i hear they are planning on making the MOA bigger next year and adding more fancy stores....yippee....

A bad shopping experience? If I'm with friends 90% of the time it's bad. Simply because they rush me, and give me hardly no time to browse around. They start complaining on how they have no money, or worse when they can't find something they like they have a long face throughout the whole day. So it always ends up with me going home pissed off. Thus is why I enjoy shopping alone. I take my time, and I'm not worried that one of my friends will scream out "$300.00 FOR THIS?!".

No, I live about 45 minutes away, so I go there ever-so-often. I just haven't gone there much in the past few years, I wanted to do some major shopping. :( Especially since all my clothes come from Target otherwise.

I hadn't heard they were making it bigger. I hope it turns out good.
