Eyelash Extentions

Actually, a lot of stars have been getting the eyelash extensions these days. I think it runs from $300-$500. I would check out the info at your salon.

yeah, jinnylash is the one I've heard of. It's an interesting idea but i think i would poke someone's eye out if my eyelashes were any longer...

I just had my extensions removed. I have had them on for about 4 months. I am so upset at what shape my natural eye lashes are in. I should say what is left of them. I am sick about it. Everytime I look in the mirror I want to cry. My lashes looked awesome when they were on, but once off you see the damage that has been done. I am searching for ways to grow my lashes back. I have read that once you damage the follicle it will not grow back. I have to wait 8 weeks for them to grow back in. I am so upset, I do not even want to see anyone.

Yea I've heard the same thing, a friend of mine has had them for the past year and she said that once you start wearing them you have to continue doing so because they damage your own natural eyelashes so badly.

Eyelash extensions

A yes or a no? how does it work? i heard when u have it you can't put mascara???? how long will it stay? is it pricey? let me know!

Jinnylash are the only people I know who do it, and they have outlets in LA, NYC and London. They apply individual lashes to your lashes, one by one to build fullness where you want it. It lasts about three weeks I believe, and you cannot use eye makeup remover while you have them on, or else they will come off. I think they cost around $300 USD per session.

ameliargh, please always make a search to see if there already is a thread before you post your own :)

not sure abt this . . .
i've heard quite a few horror stories abt this one . . ;)

Golden_butterfly: sorry! i'm so new here i'm still clueless... won't do it again...

but thanx for the info... kinda scare me now that it might destroy your natural lashes! does it ALWAYS happen to everyone??? i've long thick lashes for an asian... esp when i put mascara on... but i tot eyelash extension would skip that mascara routine... but after hearing that... i rather spend a min more than say byebye to my lashes!

I actually would love to get this done, but would never pay for it. $300 is a little steep for my wallet, especially to spend on eyelashes, of all things... but I still love my false eyelashes (but maybe not applying them). ;)

Believe me when I tell you that they are not worth it!! My eyelashes are finally growing back. I have been using Talika lipocils and Mavala eyelash treatment every morning and night. They have actually helped, alot. My eyelashes were so damaged and sparse. I could not look in the mirror. After reseaching on the internet I found out how many people had damaged thier klashes after having the extensions. Some people were saying they damaged thier lashes to the point were they would not grow back. I was so afraid that was going to happen to me. They did grow back, but not to what I had prior. Never ever again.

wow, i was excited about this until i read sandrac823's post. i'd rather have what i have now, than any less.

Eyelash extensions are quite great, if done by a skilled technician...Im currently in training for this procedure, w/ a new spa set to open soon and I havent had any bad luck yet...Ive also had them applied, and no bad luck there as well...If they're damaging the shape of your eyelash, I wanna say that's due to poor technique on behalf of the person who applied them..:o Hopefully that wont be me though..God willing..

yes...I don't understand how they could damage your eyelashes unless applied poorly? Certainly the glue shouldn't damage the lash.

wow...that sounds like a nightmare the eyelash damage. i once had an aesthetician perm my eyelashes-- while i was getting a facial she insisted that i get one, and i stupidly agreed (i felt bad since she was such good friends with my mom.) anyway, there was such a sting to my eyes and i freaked out thinking she may have just blinded me. my eyes turned out okay, and surprisingly the eyelash perm did last like 4 months. they were really curly, and made my eyelashes look really full!! wouldn't do it again, tho.

I thought maybe I should try getting some, but my eyelashes already look longer than the fake ones in the pictures that were posted on the first page, so I guess there's no point. I wouldn't try them anyway if there is a risk of all my natural eyelashes falling out because someone isn't doing their job properly.

I do not think it was poor technique in my case at all being that I went to a reputable salon in Chicago and paid top TOP dollar. I would never trust someone to come that close to my eye with a tweezer that sharp without doing my research. Also, I was so worried about contracting an infection.

This is how your natural eyelashes damage from the extensions..washing, sleeping, removing make up, even toucing your eye. You actually are told to sleep a certain way because if you sleep on the side of your face you can damage them. If you rub your eyes too rough you will remove the extension which is attached to your natural eyelash. Same when washing your face. I never felt like I could really clean around my eyes. I had my lashes on for very long time and I did have a lot of extensions. I was super gentle with my eyes. It is like adding anything false to your body, tips to your nails damage your natural nail, hair extensions damage your real hair. My tech. did tell me that I may have some damage but I never thought to the extent I had, I had sections missing. Actually everywhere I called they said they MAY cause some damage. I actually signed an agreement on how to clean my eyes, water temp, no make up remover and no steam, actually the list was pretty long. I think if anyone told you they would not damage your eyelash would not be a reputable tech.
Anyway, I have to say my lashes did grow back in just fine and after all the drama, I am missing having the extensions. I debate about getting them again because they made my eyes look beautiful. Then I think how horrible and sick I looked with having none! Maybe if you only did it for a little while, it would not be as bad. I am worried about if I do it again and lose a lot of lashes will I damage my follicle this time? I now just put on fake eyelashes when I go out and I feel they do the trick.

I am restraining myself for now!!
