Elle by YSL
French luxury brand Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) has reinvented itself for its latest fragrance, Elle. A modern representation of the brand’s codes, the woody, floral, spicy scent, signed Jacques Cavallier et Olivier Cresp (Firmenich).
Opening with citron and lychee smoothed by peony, the fragrance follows with a vibrant heart of jasmin sambac and pink berries and ends with woody notes of patchouli and vetiver. In its brief to the perfumers, YSL described a modern and urban woman, very feminine but with a touch of the masculine.
If Cinéma, the latest key launch for women by YSL, is seen as the scent of a transition period between Tom Ford’s reign at the brand and today, Elle definitely places YSL in a new era. The success of L’Homme, now in the top-10 bestsellers in Europe and 4th in France, gives a new boost to the brand both in terms of visibility and means.
Elle will be supported with a campaign created by agency Publicis 133, for which visuals have been shot by Nick Knight and a film directed by Michael Haussman in which Coco Rocha evokes executive women in the 80’s. Elle will be available worldwide in October, with the exception of the US and Japan, where it will launch in March 2008. Prices range from €33 for a 200ml body lotion to € ;95 for a 90ml EdP spray.

The Italian fashion brand will launch watches in partnership with the Morellato Group, the same distributor for Miss Sixty jewelry. The collection will be available this September in all Miss Sixty stores and select jewelry retailers.
The watch collection will feature six styles all made of steel with red and violet detailing. Swarovski crystals adorn certain pieces along with butterflies and flowers. Other parts of the line are more modern, with racing stripes and leather straps. All watches will retail from $100 to $170.
"The watches represent the same Miss Sixty message that is in every category — sexiness, use of sophisticated and elegant materials and innovation," said Pace. The collection is targeting the "Miss Sixty" age group of 20 to 28, and will undergo a major advertising initiative this fall in select magazines featuring model Jessica Stam.
