eBay should force fakes to a separate section.
I really cannot understand why anyone would willingly pay hundreds of dollars for something not authentic, especially if it's a really poor copy.
That brown saddle bag definitely looks like a fake. Just looking at the strap alone says alot. I know Dior did do brown logo bags, and have only seen the vintage bags, in that colour. I think the 'Dior' logos are too small. I have a double saddle in denim and no way are the Dior logos that small. My sister has the brown vintage chain bag and the logos are thinner. from what i can see it doesnt look authentic, its correct to say that it is difficult to say 100% that a bag is fake without being able to see close up or internal pictures of the suspected item.Originally posted by Purr@May 27th, 2004 - 7:08 am
I think it's fake... I analysed the picture (nothing to do at work, heh)

I agree with you to an extent. I dont think its that easy to spot a fake vintage, not unless you know what to look for, or are a pro, which i am not. when i bought my bag, i guess because its the honeycomb pattern, which is probably rare, i liked it so much, that i didn't study the pictures hard enough, and i didn't expect to find that print on a fake bag. I emailed the seller today and she seems to be very convinced that it is 100% genuine, she even goes as far as saying i should take it to the Christian Dior boutique for clarification, but i only paid 14UK for it, so see no point in taking it for authentication. I believe its a fake, because the inside is lined with canvas, the internal edging is raw and not concealed by piping or tucked in behind the lining, the edges arent matching or lining up and the gold internal tag when i lifted it, it came up with lots of glue behind(we thought the seller might have glued it down) so that isnt a major factor.Originally posted by chocsta@Jun 18th, 2004 - 4:20 pm
I'm a huge fan of vintage bags, and I find that quite horrifying! However, as with the many fakes, I find that its quite easy to tell which ones are fake and which are not. The real ones are way superior in craftsmanship, and they will usually show some signs of wear because of their age.![]()
