Fall/Winter 05.06

For the masses.........I think chocolate brown will still be holding court, it will be all in my warerobe anyway. cropped and cuff pants, tweeds and pinstripes, blazers with a cross between safari and military (lots and lots of small buttoning), velvet will be making a come-back (if you wanna call it that) robin hood type boots with a large fold-over flap at the knee, plenty of layering, newsboy caps are back with a twist, pre-Raphaelite blouses and under skirting, round toe stacked heel stiletto, loafer style incorporated into 4 inch heels, fur incorporated into sweatering.................

I love your list!

I can't wait for feminine clothing, minimalism, dark dark colors (and black!), slouchy boots, thick Frye-esque boots, tailored military coats, vests, turtleneck sweaters, high neck Victorian-era clothes, and pretty pretty flats.

Yep flats are hot for Fall. I'm only 5 feet, so flats are out for me, I have to have at least a 2 inch heel or higher, but I have seen some really funk round toe boots and square stacked heel pumps that I absolutely love at style.com (some examples below) and I'm waiting to see how they "translated" from the runway into the department stores this Fall. Very excited.

I also bought my first pair of pinstriped cropped, cuff pants - got alot of compliments on them already.

I don't mind wearing flats, but I like to look taller, so I'll be sticking with heels:D

i agree on most of the 'tips' you mentioned bashing, except tweed and brown ...which i find commercially 'done'* since last year
(*in Europe..)

love the heels you've posted, apart from the colour of the lace up miumiu boots and the anna sui maryjanes ..i dont like jewlerry on shoes, but its true, its a rising trend for fw05.06

I'm really olde fashioned in my tastes.
I like the asian influences in poiret and erte... i think that that mixed with a late 1950's balenciaga feel would be cool. maybe a givenchy feel in the cut and the hats. I am not a fan of prada's feather hat...things.
lol
I just hope that the gypsyesque theme that louis vuitton and gucci are sporting disappears.
I also detest valentino's animal prints.
anyone else miss full length opera gloves?

Zara has brought their winter collection in.. lots of folk, lots of russian peasant, lots of 'menswear', lots of velvet (including printed velevet skirts)

Russian Look. Lots of fake furs, big hats e.t.c. I love this look.

I often wonder if that's OK. I love the more quirky look, but I sometimes wonder when will someone point and snicker at me becase I've become the middle aged woman with the weird shoes and funky hair that is oh... just dangling on to her youth by the hair of something or another's chinny chin chin. Granted, if youth is a state of mind, doesn't that come out in your attire? Sorry to go so off topic.

I remember recently I saw a woman in a cute, funky outfit, took a closer look, and saw she was probably in her 50s (or very wrinkly sun-damaged 40s). She was in great shape, very lithe, graceful movements (probably a dancer), and I thought, Why not? Good for her.

I LOVE the new gentleman look from Ralph Lauren It's so cool!

Huge skirts-like the ones that are gathered at the bottom into another layer of fabric so that the bottom is puffed (were in Alexander McQueen's Edwardian/nautical show and I've already seen imitations!) ending at knee length.
Long, full skirts-
Chocolate brown, black, overall dark aesthetic, but also, cream (the colour of antique fabrics) and pale pale pink as well as rose and really pale coffee.
Rouched thigh high boots-
Tailored jackets both cropped and full length with lots of volume.
Flimsy dresses over trousers (Edwardian/Victorian reproductions as well as inspirations)
Buttons along centre of light tops in a victorian/edwardian style.
Flounces and frills and lace.
High necks with lace.
Sombre mourning style coats.
Large buttons on jackets, smaller delicate buttons on shirts.
Trousers continuing to be cropped as well as full length and with edging/trimmings military style. Very smart trousers.
Military jackets-already in shops, but thought I'd mention that one!
Pucci style prints, only toned down LOTS, in less obtrusive colours coffees/pale pinks/creams.
Blouses/shirts-Structured in terms of how the garment is made-i.e lots of pieces, but loose in terms of aesthetic.

That's my vision!! And also my plans for creating in the autumn/winter months!
Absolutely love Victoriana!

As said the new winter look for 2006 is eastern europe/russian folk look, with lots of prints. Im curious to know what graphic designs though?
