Fall/Winter 05.06

whats going to be hot for fall/winter 05-06, i predict a mix between sailor-chic and ’70s activist. think early jane fonda in high-waisted jeans with braided belt meets richard dreyfuss in jaws with keds and no socks. then throw in a little summer sexpot by channeling brigitte bardot in her high-waisted short-shorts with tucked-in tank and chloe-esque leather and wood heels. messy hair, long bangs, and a devil-may-care attitude. i'm feelin it.

turn of the century/victorian influences are uber cool, i can also see lots of black glass beads

I like victorian influence, but i think that taking it as far as black beads is too far.
I like that spread in vogue a few months back with drew barrymore.
1803-1812.... great look.
I love the empire waist. very classic look.
I like creams and golds... nothing harsh maybe with an ivory overlay.
As far as anything like beads or sequins, i thing that they should have an aurora borealis look to them. soft and etherial.
but not too extreme.
i think that shoes should round themselves out more and the arch should be higher to reduce the appearance of the foot's size.
I think that if any skin should be exposed it should be from the back. i think that the most beautiful part of a woman's body is just below the waist into the hips.
think that the movement should be restricted to the actual physical movent. Godets hidden in the skirts and trains would give the perfect shape.
but i'm just a hopeless romantic.
:flower:

^ I agree I'm seeing a lot of empire waists - a natural lead-in from the empire waisted hippie tops that were so big this summer. but for the autumn they're much more refined, much prettier. the fabrics and prints are more old-world and period influenced. very edwardian-via-regency influence...I love this look.

I like what I`ve seen so far , accept for the big heads with the fake fur :doh:I don't like (fake) fure anyway but sometimes it can be nice...

i just finished my sister's wedding dress. she wanted a regency style gown.(plus she had just had a baby so the high waiste was perfect for her) here are some pics!

been browsing the stores for fw looks, this is my report
*old time tight and short military jackets are HUGE, Zara is packed with them they remind me of the jackets the philarmonic bands wear, do you guys call them 'brass'??.. i almost bought one today but then i need to think harder, maybe they will be all over the place (pure Marc Jacobs influence) and i'll regret buying them
*VESTS, i've already got one fab black one
*teal, brown, mauve and so much black
*short length platform boots a-la LV
*empire line everywhere, both in dresses and blouses
*more skirts than trousers, which is great, much more since i'm on a (rare) pants trip :D
*beat up leather bomber jackets a-la late '80s ..not too bad
*velvet military (brass) jackets

They are hitting the mainstream but I believe they are here to stay forever because they're a timeless item.... Very classic..... I have the feeling each time I step in Zara this season that I am visiting Sienna Miller's wardrobe... :ninja:

I'm in love with the military jackets but can't decide on one to buy, don't know if this is the right place, but could anyone help a girl out? They're fabulous.

my boyfriend just picked me up a pair of rad cowboy boots in london...they are brown and kind of slouchy, and i just want to know what i should be wearing them with in fall...thanks!

it seems like the last two seasons have been tartan/plaid... for example, last winter, plaid coats were quite popular, and before that it was tartan in the revival of traditional british style, not to mention all the 'punk' revival stuff that integrates tartan. as much as I love tartan, I personally don't really see it becoming a big trend this fall. I could be wrong. :P (and not too bothered whether I am right or wrong because I have so many vintage and homemade plaid skirts which I will be wearing whether they're trendy or not)

^ I will say that I think a roughly woven, woollen tartan material does seem to sort of go along with the whole turn of the century/victorian/industrial influence that we're going to be seeing...whether people connect literal history with history-inspired trends, tartan was very popular during the years of the industrial revolution (popularised by queen victoria).

I very much enjoy how you "connect the dots." It takes awhile to piece all of these trends together, sometimes too long for us lay people. So it's quite nice to be able to make sense of it all by hearing experts and insiders discuss the origin of various trends and how they link together. Thank you :flower:

Can someone please tell me where I can find the fall/winter 05-06 collection of Just Cavalli? Thank you:blush:

what do you mean ragazza?
where to buy it or where to see it online?

trends

Black is back, the fur, the return of the chic, the evening dress, the rétro 50 ...

For me, the comeback: the woolen dress of Dior, j'adore, vive Paris

^ try style.com or vogue.uk

there should aslo be a thread at tFS designers & collections section, you can do some research by using tFS search feature at the right top of the page
