whether it is fine art or not, it seems to be comparable to what warhol had done.

i love it when the inspiration from a piece of art becomes an actual, structured, piece of clothing.. and not just a big print on some fabric. some of these are beautiful...thanks for all the pics, guys :flower:

well, check the above photo of Catherine Deneuve in YSL, the african art insipration dress & the metalic belly sculpture by Claude Lalane, & there is another version of this dress in a metalic breast with indigo fabric.

i'll try to find an editorial from german vogue on art+fashion, it was quite beautiful ...

In 1970 Claude Lalane designed this butterfly jewelry for Yves Saint Laurent, & in fall 1999 Yves used it to decorate this dress

Delicate collages from Ralph Rucci

i thought this might go with this thread - :flower:

Delicate collages from Ralph Rucci
By Suzy Menkes International Herald Tribune

TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2005

'I do it all the time," says Ralph Rucci, left, of his delicate collages of paper, cashmere, masking tape, patent leather or misty silk screen prints on chiffon.

Framed in the Serge Sorokko gallery in San Francisco until June 26, Rucci's powerful strokes of oily black paint or tiny gilt-embossed pictures are sold as works of art.

In this first gallery exhibition from the American couturier, he can trace the origins of a shadowy, sculpted bust or the memory of working at night in the studio, reducing inspiration to its essence. Rucci says of his works on paper: "I use this as a vehicle for my unconscious in making clothes."

Rucci is passing up on showing during Paris couture next month, planning to put his work on the runway during the New York season in September. But, he says: "I'll be back."

What about the Marilyn dress from versace's Spring/summer 91 collection? And I think he had some more clothes printed with Warhol's portraits.
Warhol is definitely a favourite of the designers...
