Fashion Shows That Made You Cry (or Almost)

The ending of Chanel FW19 gets me every time! I just rewatched it then to see if it still has the same effect on me, and it does. Partly because I miss Karl, partly because everyone is crying, partly because Bowie's Heroes will make me emotional in any situation. If they'd used more of his muses from over the years rather than just current girls, I wouldn't even be able to stand up by the end. But still, kills me whenever I watch it.

There have been so many for me - and I may list my most poignant ones later, but I would love to begin with the most recent that made me literally cry. Givenchy HC FW 2018. The Hubert de Givenchy tribute by Clare Waight Keller. As someone who was enthralled by Hubert de Givenchy's HC work through Audrey Hepburn's films, I felt that the dresses that went down the runway were absolutely breathtaking and moving in their beauty and craftsmanship and were a perfect tribute to the great couturier. As an Audrey Hepburn fan, I was so full with emotion when they played Moon River for the finale. It was as if both Hubert and Audrey were with us, if only for a sublime moment.

I don't cry at the actual show when I watch it on YouTube - but Raf Simons' first Dior couture collection. I cry at the moment in Dior and I when Raf finally gets to show the collection in Paris and he has tears of joy. I felt the agony and work he put into it. The director of that documentary did a wonderful job.

His appointment also made me cry.

I don’t cry when I watch them..

but there are certain shows that I really love because it’s almost like I was there watching it in person. The ones where I can really feel the energy, and excitement of it all.. which I don’t always feel every time I see a fashion show.

Chanel S/S 2018 Haute Couture - I watched an episode of 7 Days Out which gives a behind the scenes look at how this show came together.
seeing the creation of everything from the runway to the clothes to every little detail, I couldn’t help but feel so happy seeing the final result of everyone’s hard work. Also, watched this ep after Karl passed so it was also sad, maybe bittersweet?
