I don't need to blather on about how recent celeb editorials have become synonymous with zero creative vision. Here's where to post those celeb editorials gems which push creative boundaries stylistically for the editorial concept or cast the modeling celebrity in a new light.

I'm head over heels in love with this graphic opulence on Charlotte channeling Park Avenue Czarina. Every frame is riveting.

What a great idea for a thread, ellastica.. celebrities in editorials get quite a bit of bashing but I think that when the right person is cast, the person is able to transmit the same emotion on screen into a page and the result can be quite beautiful. I thought immediately of Charlotte Gainsbourg too.. she's a great model. I love her sets with Serge Leblon.

Mark Segal also tends to produce great work with actors..

I see Charlotte Rampling as way beyond the celebrity/model concept, more as a muse.. and total legend (*can't be objective*) but I guess she belongs here as well.

I still need some time to think about it, but the first name that came to my mind was Nicole Kidman! I absolutely love her editorial for US Vogue in 2004, shot by Irving Penn  There's also one for the same magazine, but in 1995... It was shot by Steven Meisel and if I'm not wrong, she didn't even got the cover, it was more like a fashion spread, which made it more special.

^ if I'm thinking of the same Nicole Kidman story, I think it was for the September issue of 2003. Still my favorite September issue .. all the sets she did with these photographers were incredible.. the shot similar to the cover, where she's looking down is mesmerizing.. same for the one where she's wearing Ann Demeulemeester boots.. very different but all memorable.

^ YES! Nicole Kidman has some of the best celebrity fashion shoots, in my biased opinion. Especially these ones mentioned here (September 2003, February 1995) and of course her amazing Irving Penn cover (and edit) from May 2004, the likes of which we have yet to see repeated from Vogue US.

I'll also throw in another Nicole Kidman/Craig McDean collaboration from Another Magazine Issue 4, S/S 2003.

oh Mulletproof, thanks for all those sublime editorials  In fact that exact Huppert/i-D edit immediately came to mind for this thread too. she just has that ever youthful, angelic aura about her. and miss Rampling of course with her come hither, steely sensuality plays the part so perfectly!
and jeez that Jane Birkin ed, LOVE. Hadn't seen that one before, so thanks. Turberville's poetic, slightly eerie aesthetic so perfectly captured Jane's wild, worldly elegance and no none sense yet sensual approach to fashion. my Icon

and SugarMe, that Kidman/Mdean shoot is new to me too. Tabitha's rock'n'roll alter ego styling is brilliant: simple yet oozes emotional intensity.

Thanks for all those evocative, memorable editorials. Exactly the caliber of celebrity editorials i had in mind, plus more. brightened my day :flower:

Anyone have scans of this Ashley Judd cover ed? Nary a mention of "at every age, " in fact their coverlines at the time were witty, entertaining and concise and issue specific, what a concept  This is my favorite Betts era cover and the editorial is simply stunning! I'd be forever grateful if someone would post this cover in better quality and had scans of the actual editorial. I have editorial images sans text but the text and typeface at that time was pretty gorgeous and meaningful! When this issue arrived in the mail, Junior year of high school, I thought I'd died and gone to fashion heaven

Hard to remember right now, but I think Eva Mendes is one of my favourite subjects :flower:

^That Vogue Italia editorial with Eva by Meisel is beautiful! I love the colors and the styling.

Amazing thread once again ellastica . That Vogue Italia cover and editorial with Charlotte Gainsbourg is one my faves too .
Another celebrity editorial I love is Madonna in W April 2003. These shots are pure art.

I agree about Eva Mendez, I love her editorial for W and I thought that her Vogue Italia one, in all its raunchiness, was amazingly executed, she was completely transformed and nailed that role even better than pro models.

I adored Gwyneth Paltrow's editorial for Elle in 2009! Looked so powerful in Dolce & Gabbana .
