Fendi Spy Bag

Seems that there are more and more extravagant Spys with each season since the ist conception of the bag... :)

Have been struggling to decide on which Spy to buy, so here I am seeking all the TFSers consul on this sleep-depriving matter . It will be my 1st Spy, hence the anxiety......

Comparatively, I'm more inclined towards the Fall '05-'06's Spys than the Spring Summer '06 ones. Within my consideration would be:
1. Hologram (from ebay, assuming it's still there, as there is none left in stores...)
2. Spring Summer '06's Rust leather Wisteria
3. Dark brown (Seen IRL. Very very nice...)
4. Cognac (Seen IRL in the satchel style. Very very nice too...)
5. Black (Think the uniqueness of the Spy design can definitely withstand the mundaneness of black :). Have yet to see this IRL. I may feel differently if I saw one....)

Personally, I do not have issues with metallic bags (being owner of a metallic red Balenciaga, Gold python silverado & Silver python silverado :) ). My bag collection consists of mostly blacks, pinks, oranges and blues. No brown bags yet...hmmm... So what would your esteem advise be, my honorable TFSers? :) :)

thanks so much for posting that! i love that darling story...it makes much more sense than i could have imagined. here i was thinking they were just showing off their whimsical design through masterful execution. thanks again!

p.s.: also i have much more respect for squirrels now too. ^_^

I love the squirells that they're using, I've always had a love for animals ^_^

baghag -- I'd go with the hologram or dark brown, but considering it's you first spy, I'd get the dark brown first :)

Thanks for all the feedback :):):)!!!

Guessgirl...I'm with you on the squirrels and appreciation for animals. I have the most adorable Maltzu (cross between Maltese and Shitzu) :). Maybe that's why I was strangely drawn to the velvet Tokyo Squirrel !!

Planning to be in Milan in April. Also planning to get a Spy there beforehand i.e. calling them up, buying over the phone (if possible) and all the crazy things we do to get our hands on a bag :). That is if I can wait...it is another 3 months afterall...sigh......

The honey is available for pre-order at Saks Fifth for just over $2k.

It's exactly the same bag that Megs is wearing, it's breathtaking

Fendi started out as a furrier and is celebrating its 80th birthday. To mark the occasion, the label dusted off a classic squirrel logo for its latest line of must-have handbags..I think I read somewhere else that Lagerfeld suggested that the squirrel represents longevity and resourcefulness and that's part of why he put them on the spy.

If Karl was really after longevity and resourcefulness, he should have planted elephants or manatees on the Spy. Darned squirrels, I grew to dislike them from my college days, those farkers were lurking everywhere

it seems like a brilliant allegory for a fashion house that has been both really hot (baguette days) and really struggling and survives it all over the years....i.e. working and stowing away any acorns where they are abundant, and using them to survive the long harsh winters.

there are 2 really nice textured ones really below retail on ebay. personalshoppers has one and mindyfrogs or something. mindyfrogs can do 1450 she said. personalshoppers is trying to get rid of it...so perfect opportunity to get a chocolate beautiful one for a good deal!

Pink, I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the one mindyfrog has is a superfake. The authenticity card is all wrong, and she had the same suppliers as sophisticatedspirit.com (which we now know sells fake spys).

Baghag21: I'd go with the Hologram. Have seen it IRL, it is a headturner! :woot:

Would go beautifully even with your fave ol jeans! Besdies, the way that Fendi treated the leather to come up with the Hologram effect is jus brilliant! Gorgeous!

Hahaha.. I love your analogy! It's so spot on.

I like the squirrels, it's different from your usual logo, cat, dog... Not too cutsey and a good contrasting juxtaposition with the lux velvet fabric.

baghag21 -- I'd go with the cognac or the dark brown because they're classic.

Also, for everyone else, saks.com also has the black available for preorder.

personalshoppers is really nice!

Hi Everyone! I've never been on this thread before, but I'm a regular on the Balenciaga (and now Stam) threads. I was wondering if any of you could tell me when Fendi stopped making the Large Spy? I really, really want one, but I'm terrified of buying a fake--now that they're no longer available in stores. Any help in this matter would be very, very much appreciated. Thanks!

There last Large Spy batches were Summer 2005.
They stopped making them since the fall2005..I saw a camel one once...very very large...scary large if i may add for an everyday bag...
