French Pedicures

^ Agreed. Bright red, or dark dark red on ultra short nails is hot.

^^^ i agree with those colours i have bright red on at the moment!:p i also like green on really short nails and a really dark plum or black:flower:

I just dont get this obsession for obsessive grooming fullstop. People are starting to look like cartoon characters. I like Kate Moss's crooked teeth and the general scruffiness of English celebs like Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley. Excessive grooming is such an American thing and totally

I also think french manicures/pedicures are totally tacky. I don't like them at ALL, no matter how they are done.

When I get pedicures I always go for a deep red. It's classic and sexy. My nails are kept short, clean and polish free (but well groomed). If I wear polish on my fingernails for an event I take it off right away the next morning, because I HATE chipped polish. It looks tacky.

I love red toe nails as well :flower:

I don't mind french manicure in short nails, I used to have it last year, but only if the white was short and not "very white", to make them more discreat.
... BUT french pedicures... and with long nails is even more:sick:   I hate long nails.

The first time I even saw french pedicures was on Victoria Beckham, last year, when she was here in Portugal because of Euro 2004. I was in a shoe store and, when she entered my eyes were immediately driven to her feet. She had long nails with french pedicure. I almost couldn't take my eyes off her feet the entire time she was in the store and remember thinking "how the hell can she put shoes on??? She probably has to buy them at least one size bigger!"

Why, oh why - it's just so...Ewwwwww

Welcome to the forum, bonapartept :flower:

They had something in Allure magazine (I believe it was this) regarding french manicures. They were asking several stylists and beauticians about what trends will stay and die out in fashion as far as beauty is concerned, and what all of them mentioned is highly overrated is the french manicure - all agreed that it is a tacky "trend".

I, myself, have never had one. I really have no comment on them... love them or not, somebody will always be sporting one.

For the summer i love orange nails, it's great for my complexion. I also love black polish on toes, I feel like such a rebel when their that color. And sometimes i like to bedazzle my big toe with clear rhinestones.

Well, the Chanel "rouge noir" (nº18) is still one of my favourites since Uma Thurman used it on Pulp Fiction. But I don't like the hands/feet coorditation colour. So I use it either on my hands (winter) OR on my feet (summer). Never in both at the same time. But ALWAYS with short nails (hands and feet).
As a matter of fact I'm a Chanel nail polish fan. Nº 15 is also my favourite beige polish. And apperentely I'm not the only one, because it is very much sold up, everytime I want to buy it!

I also like fushia on summer.

Does all this sound freeky? All the explanaition and description.. :blush:

OH MAN! THANK YOU! I agree wholeheartedly. I live in America, west coast too, so there are tons of those Paris Hilton types walking around so excessively dolled up that I find it repulsive. People that take 3 showers a day and get their hair and nails done every week just creep me out. Sorry but I'll wash my hair once a week and I like it that way! I love the scruffyness too, just be natural damnit.

oh and back on track about the french manicure/pedicure thing, i think it looks ridiculous.

?

 I don't understand a French Manicure. Your nails grow that way anyway...white at the tips, skin-colored below. So why re-paint them that way?

I look at it as something along the lines of yummy mummys getting their teeth whitened. They're too lazy to just brush their teeth properly, so they buy a tacky lookalike. The FUNNIEST is when they get the little white crescents painted in at the bottom as well

although I don't find them repulsive but I don't find them attractive either. They just look too artificial to me. Too unnatural that screams out "high maintenance" instead of the "well-groomed subtle natural" look some might go for. Just my 2 cents....
