Gabrielle Anwar was born February 4, 1970 in Laleham, Middlesex, England to a Persian father and an English mother. She was trained at a London drama and dance school but immigrated to Los Angeles with actor Craig Sheffer, whom she met in London, when she was 19. She appeared in many British television shows prior to her film debut in 1988’s Manifesto. In 1993, she was named by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World and came in 82nd and 79th in 1996 and 1997 respectively, in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in the World.
Fiona Glenanne, played by Gabrielle Anwar on Burn Notice, spent 14 years with the volatile IRA but has since severed ties with them because of her resistance to taking orders. She now uses her skills in explosives, lock-picking, tracking, weapons and hand to hand combat as she takes on odd jobs to make a living. She has a complicated past with former covert spy, Michael Westen, who is reluctant to have another go at personal ties with her.
