Game of Thrones

I did like the Hound too.

For anyone interested I saw on the new that some IMAX theaters (check your local theatre!) around the US are going to show episode 9 & 10 of season 4 and a preview of season 5 for one week in late January.

^^^ Strong action sets episodes will ever look good on the IMAX screen, and the Season 4 finale would be one of them. I loathe IMAX/ HFR/ 3D, so I can't imagine watching those sit-and-snark episodes on IMAX...

Although the CGI is quite good in general, they're still quite a bit off-- and lacking in terms of creating a convincing epic scale that certain scenes demand. The Dragons are well done, but some scenes, like the Wildlings invading the wall and Dany's army invading the city, lacks in awe, particularly Dany's invasion. And Stannis's army invading the Wildlings was poorly-rendered CGI. I know they spend most of their effects-budget on the Dragons-- and they look the best, but it's clear they need a bigger budget if they are to pull of such grand feats if there are more in Season 5.

... And I loved loved loved Brienne and The Hound's brawl. It was an all-out brawl and it didn't hold back: It was mean, intense, bloody and great fun to watch, and so glad there weren't any tight edits, instead they were wise to just let the fight unfold between two equally matched fighters.

I hope the show doesn't decide to kill off Brienne...

BTW, Jaimie's pointy, beakish features are really distracting with the shorter hair LOL He needs his hair longer again. He's like Daria with her short hair-- very unflattering.

Yea I was kind of surprised when the season began and he had a new do. I don't find it worse than the longer hair, but I don't understand the need for the change, considering no one else in the show has had any changes, other than the child actors growing up.

^^^ He had Sears catalogue-hair! And he needs his beard. Without his beard, he sort of resembles Nick Lachey, whom I find totally asexual.

I suspect he had worked on a film-- probably some deathly bland romance-comedy trop, that required the short do just before jumping back to Thrones...? Who knows... short hair and clean-shaven does not suit him. Just like seeing Bradley Cooper all waxed and plucked like a glazed Peking duck does absolutely nothing for me. It's clear to me now how unattractive he is with his lipless mouth. Poor Bradley, even squirrels have more lips than him...

Most men look better with a bit of facial hair-- Bradley and Nickolaj being two of them. But all men need to keep their natural body hair...

Olenna: "they'll never even find what's left of you" - I wonder who this is addressed to?! Will it be a showdown with Cersei?!

^ just imagine reading the books, her plot lines are just as long, drawn out and boring. I'm like "forget the slaves, get over the sea and conquer Westeros already!" - if it weren't for her dragons, she'd be so irrelevant.

^yeah, I heard about that from friends who've read the books
I don't know how she has stans :rolleye:

I like her.

Give me Dany's goddess-on-a-mountaintop declarations any day to that tiresome, mopping Tyrion's woe-is-me 30-minute monologues.

At least with Dany, she's planning to get things done-- may take awhile, but she's working on it! With Tyrion, it's so boring and nothing more than Grammy-baiting.

And with Dany, the OTT self-prophecies work since this is a fantasy world with dragons, giants, the walking dead and an ancient people made of ice. Whenever Tyrion opens his mouth, I feel like we're in 1991 with Wynona Ryder in Reality Bites.

Thanks for the new trailer Commander!

From what I've seen on TV, for me, her journey is about someone coming to terms with exercising power, and the mistakes they make along the way, and by necessity, that can take some time. You don't immediately know what to do with three dragons or ten thousand slaves... or any of the men in your life.

Agreed- she should just come to Westeros. Apparently when George Marting first pitched the books, there was supposed to be a trilogy. Dani was supposed to come to Westeros in the 2nd one, and in the 3rd one they would all have fought the Others. Wish he would've kept to the trilogy plan.

I think people who only watch the show forget how young the characters are in the books. Dany is like 14-16 in the books. She says cheesy lines and makes poor decisions but she's not even an adult yet.

I can' wait to find out what Sansa is doing in the Winterfell crypts. I hope she gets Lady Dustins part. I hope she finds Lyanna's wedding cloak:woot:

Its either Cersei for setting up the whole thing with Loras to get out of the marriage. Or she's speaking with Olyvar who will later recant the accusations (granted they are truthful) about Loras. Or they are going to kill Loras anyway.

*SPOILER*

THIS!!!I'm so excited about that, Sansa in her home ground with the Army of the Vale behind her and Littlefinger on her side.... the possibilities are endless, this is why she's one of my favorite characters, she has so many claims though birth and marriage, she could really be a threat if she plays her cards right and the show seems to be going that direction with her. I'm pretty sure they'll give her some of LSH's characteristics to avenge the Starks.

Sansa is headed to Winterfell to tank the marriage of Ramsay and fARYA. Hopefully she finds Lyanna's cloak in the crypts. She could become a major player if Ramsay and Roose are killed off. I'm sure little finger could come up with a plan for that. The Vale, Stannis, the North, and the wildlings vs the Others. That would be epic.

Future speculation/spoilers
Does anyone think Azor Ahai could be both Dany and Jon? Azor Ahai is supposed to save the world from and endless night (the others obvi). Dany fits the prophecy the best but Jon is a close second. They are both Ice and Fire. The first book is a song of Ice and Fire. We know that Dany is going to fight the others north of the wall (at least in the original story). Maybe she and Jon will get married (the IRONY) and you would have a bittersweet ending like George says the ending will be.
