Sarah Jessica Parker Signs With Gap

Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore designer clothes on HBO's "Sex and the City" for six seasons, has agreed to represent the Gap in a marketing campaign that will debut in August.

"Gap has always been about individual style, and no one represents this philosophy better than Sarah Jessica Parker," Gary Muto, president of Gap, said Wednesday in a statement. "She looks as amazing in jeans as she does in couture."

It's the first time the Gap will be working with a celebrity on a broader scale than a one-time appearance in a print or TV ad campaign, the company said. As part of the new campaign, Parker also will be featured in a series of TV spots and print ads, both alone and in conjunction with other artists

interesting idea!
SJP is an icon whether some people like her or not. she HAS influenced a lot.
and being the face of GAP will just help GAP out and fill SJPs pocket a bit more...

Great! I feel this "partnership" is going to advantage both parties a whole lot. Though I would never have thought SJP would have done ads for Gap, I still think it's going to be awesome.

Can't wait to see those ads!

I think SJP suits GAP a lot to be honest. I can imagine her GAP ads strolling in a park with gorgeous heels and GAP jeans on B)

I have read her saying several times that she wants to take on projects that will distance her from the typical Carrie look and attitude. I think that this Gap campaign is a great move. She will still have great exposure with a company known for their unique and tasteful advertisements. Also, she will be more relatable figure. With SATC coming into syndication this summer, Carrie & Co. will be seen by a broader audience and I feel that there will be many who won't understand or perhaps won't like the show. HBO has a great niche audience for a show like SATC (and Sopranos and Six Feet Under, etc) and opening these shows to a larger audience could create a great new following or a mix of opinions. This Gap ad campaign will turn SJP into more of the "girl next door" for those who don't live in the Upper East Side. I say Brava!

...and she looks good in couture too!
