Garage #1 Fall / Winter 2011

The crotch shot seems awfully gimmicky to me...but then again i may be a little biassed as i never really appriciated Dasha's EIC abilities

the crotch was tattooed by artist Damien Hirst...I guess they're going more in the art direction than the fashion...

^really wanna see. I hope the mag won't be banned in paris.

i think the whole point of the vagina cover was to get people talking and sure enough, today on the huffington post was an article calling it the most provocative cover ever.

yea, thanks for linking. i was too lazy to look for it.

And I certainly wouldn't bother with a butterfly, I'd start by drawing a happy face, and then move on to attempting to recreate Guernica, making full use of the contours available to achieve that cubist effect, matching the original artwork's ability to create a harrowing emotional reaction in the viewer.

im not sure if this is supposed to be ironic or not, but since damien hirst did it, it's no surprise he decided to use probably his most iconic 'theme'.

im SO looking forward to this, mostly cause it seems to be more art-oriented than fashion. It sounds pretentious and there's a chance it'll suck bad, but i still want a copy (possibly nick knight's cover). does the mag have a website?

I suspect Hirst is still more famous for his use of formaldehyde, but the artistic treatment of female body parts in that manner wouldn't really work the p*rn angle well enough to sell the magazine, except to those with specialist tastes who probably shouldn't be free to walk the streets.

I'm intrigued and waiting to see more before making up my mind... :innocent:

the magazine is out at Colette, Paris.

As in a garage that stores and converts articles which sometimes promise a phenomenal success, the new magazine Garage stores and converts the elements of fashion, culture, art and our environment. Under the aegis of Dasha Zhokova, coming from POP magazine, the magazine will work with artists (Abramovic, Koons, D. Hirst, etc.) and contributing friends (Larry Gagosian, Derek Blasberg, Hedi Slimane, Juergen Teller, etc.) and create with Gagosian Gallery, limited editions of artists' works.

Contents :

- Emails from the Edge : Derek Blasberg
- Citrus by Prada : Fulvio Bonavia
- Coated : Boo Ritson
- Fashion Propaganda! : Jacob Sutton
- Agathe and the Seraphine's House : Nick Knight & Dinos Chapman
- Bloom : Angelo Pennetta
- Nude : Max Farago
- Soul Operation : Marina Abramović
...

26 x 34,5 cm

tavi gevison is also pointed out as a collaborator.

I'm curious to see the magazine.

This seems like the result of someone with a lot of money and idle time on their hands. It's a complete vanity project.
