Tar Magazine #2 : Kate Moss by Damien Hirst

Thank you for seeing that Manuva :flower: The image is from March 2005 by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. Damien Hirst used the image to make his painting.

No, the cover was shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott actually :flower:

i think it's a great idea for a cover. best use of a reprint i have ever seen. i am not familiar with damien hirst's work, so this concept is fresh to me. i read the article earlier and it's convinced me to look for this issue when it comes out.

My first reaction was, EW!!, but now I'm more like, this is such an interesting photograph. I just want to keep looking at it.

does anyone know where can i find this in nyc? i've been looking but i haven't really seen it.

^ I bought the last issue at Universal news on 23rd street but I'm not sure if they have this one just yet :flower: I'm sure they'll stock it though, eventually.

thanks for the info luxx.

luckily i got it today from one of my usual places.

cover scan and review in a minute! :magic:

Review

Untiled
Model: Natasha V
Photographer: Cedric Buchet
Stylist: Alastair McKimm
since there is no title for this editorial, and also because it's in the very front of the issue i'm not sure what it's purpose is. it doesn't seem to be advertising anything in paticular, so i included it in the review.

Begotten
Models: (just marble statues)
photographer: Elle Muliarchyk
Stylist: Marina T. Schindler
Statues of holy figures holding accessories of the season

Kate Moss is Going To Live Forever (it's just an article)

Slience Please, Session In Progress
Models: "Real" People
Photographer: Terry Richardson
It's the first meaning set of photos I've seen Terry do. All about therapy set ups.

Missy and the Little Elephant
Model: Missy Rayder
Photograper: Roe Ethridge
Stylist: David Vandewal
Missy with her clothes off in good lighting.

There's a lot more to the issue than this, but I only included the the editorial / fashiony stuff in the review.

Sounds interesting, hope we get this at my local art gallery shop!, thanks nyc art style for the review!

I really like Missy's editorial and the cover, the rest of the magazine looks boring though.
