Tar Magazine #2 : Kate Moss by Damien Hirst

well, what i see look grotesque and gross. that whole under the skin concept works well on the cover..but i don't want to see it anymore.

perhaps that is the point. to make you feel uncomfortable. not everything seeks to be easily digested. this is very challenging and rather emotional. i think its very interesting and successful.

I thought Missy's edit was the least interesting and least effective portion of the entire magazine. Missy Rayder naked. What does that say about anything really? There is nothing new about that - I mean how many times have we seen Missy (who is gorgeous by the way) naked this year alone? That was the only part of the magazine that felt incongruous to me.

The whole thing with TAR is that it isn't a fashion magazine, its an art magazine and I think the content is on point with regards to what is occurring on the contemporary art scene right now. Both in terms of visuals and in terms of articles, completely and utterly on point. The models are inconsequential with the exception of Natasa Vojnovic who yet again shows her fearlessness and commitment to individualism.

I saw it today at my local bookstore. It costs 18 euro's. A bit too expensive for my taste.

This cover is amazing. It's so creative and I love that they decided to give it some edge, but I agree, I would like to see Kate's entire face.
I also really like Missy's ed; she looks stunning.
I don't really care for the rest of the magazine from what I see in that link, though.

Seeing Kate's entire face would completely disregard the entire point. If you want to see her face, buy W or any other fashion magazine.

I asked around at about 4 stores today for this issue, and none of them had it. Only one said they ordered it but it wasn't in, the rest were oblivious. I really need this issue after learning the contents. I am a huge Cindy Sherman fan and I am interested in the piece on Steve McQueen and Tilda Swinton. But I can't seem to find it in Oregon. Does anyone know how often it comes out? I will be back in LA in about a month and I should be able to find it there but I don't want to worry about missing it.

^I don't know where you're from but if it's available in a small city in Holland like Leiden (where I'm from) I'm sure it will be available in the place where you're living.

Oh my god Damien Hirst...
The man who stores half chopped up animals in formaldehyde... a little overrated of an artist in my opinion but I do love his statue of the Virgin Mother, with the under-the-skin contents of humans, just like Kate's face, which I just adore
