My World in 21 Hours - Gemma Ward

Even on a rare "day off" in her adopted home of New York, this jet setting Aussie supermodel still finds it hard to sit still for long.

9am
I'm usually an early riser, but not today, because I was in Spain a couple of days ago and I'm still a bit jetlagged. I wake up and have some coffee then get breakfast.

9.30am
I exercise when I can. I have a walk down the bottom of Manhattan and the West Side Highway and East River, down through Battery Park. I ride my bicycle in the summer time - it's always great riding up to Central Park.

11am
My mum's here at the moment, so she heads out with me for a few appointments. First we go to meet Fabien Baron, who's a renowned creative director, then we have a meeting about doing a fragrance.

1.30pm
The start of a long discussion with my architect. I just got a place in the East Village and I'm renovating it, so I've spent hours going over tiles, sinks, taps ad windows. It's great, though. I love doing it. That's part of the reason my mum's in town at the moment. She's helping me with the kitchen design because she's hoping to cook there - telling me which appliances are which and where drawers should go. I'm not really a cooking person and never have been. My mum and my sister are incredible chefs; every time I've tried to cook it's just failed in comparison. In New York it's so easy to go out and eat. Plus I travel so much, so if I cook, I end up having things that just don't last in the fridge.

3pm
I'm still with the architect and running late! Today has been such a busy day. I'm supposed to be doing phone interviews with Australian journalists right now.

4.15pm
I head home to have a very late lunch, then start doing interviews just after 5pm.

5.40pm
I'm connected through the operator for my chat with CLEO about my film The Black Balloon. I play the role of Jackie. Part of the reason I chose this film was because I fell in love with her. She's the funniest, wackiest but most sensitive girl, has gone through a lot in her life at a young age and manages to have such a great outlook. I saw a lot of myself in her.

7pm
Publicity finished. I have to pack because I'm getting picked up at 4am to go to Shanghai. It sounds hectic, but I'm used to traveling to three places in one week, shooting for two days, then going to another group of people and filming for another few days

8.30pm
Usually I'd be hanging out with my friends. I have a terrific group here and we do lots of random fun things. New York has so much to offer. We recently did a life drawing class, at Mum's suggestion actually. But I'm now off to bed for tomorrow's early start.

4am
The airport transfer arrives for my tip to china. My mum's tagging along with me, which will be great.

Thank you so much Bianca for taking the time to type that out :flower: I was wondering does the article by chance mention when this interview / day in the life actually took place?

:woot: I totally wonder for which brand that was and if it turned out well

^Yeah, I'm excited about that too, does it mean Gemma doing a new ad? ^_^

Thanks Bianca for typing up the interview:flower::flower:. Have a feeling that the interview may have been done around the end of November last year. Only because Gemma was in Spain on the 25th Nov for the Marie Claire Awards and then flew to Shanghai for the Pirelli launch which was on the 29th Nov.I'm only guessing  but it all seems to fit time wise.

"IF you happen to spot a waifish blonde trying to go incognito in funky Bondi cafes, look twice, it might be the supermodel Gemma Ward.

One coffee gulper loyal to North Bondi caffeine hotspot Jed's who did, was surprised to see the world famous catwalker on Monday morning, clad in a "tres dorky" outfit, complete with oversized horn-rimmed glasses, no less.

The specs only served to magnify Ward's amazing eyes, thus giving her identity up completely.

Alongside co-stars Toni Collette and Rhys Wakefield, Ward is scheduled to attend the Sydney premiere of her acclaimed film The Black Balloon, held at the Dendy Opera Quays cinema on Wednesday."

That's what I was thinking as well! I had forgotten she was in Spain for the Marie Claire awards, but when I read that she was flying to Shanghai I immediately thought of the Pirelli calendar.

I think you're probably right about the date melbguy :flower:
