Gemma Ward

these are certainly not normal people; if they were, would they really be that interesting to look at?? we have over 450 pages of comments about Gemma on this website alone. this is because we were all captivated by her look, hence the fect that she is not supposed to be normal.

It's ok! :flower:

I personally don't see any blatant change in her, that's all :) *Is blind* :ninja:

^ Neither do I, Faith
But yeah its all all good esm7887, its always great to hear others' opinions. :flower:

I think she looks just as amazing as usual...and I think her face is more 'blank' than anything else...I always felt her face was never that expressive on the runway to begin with.
She does look a lot healthier, but I presume it'll change when she hits Paris/Milan. Someone mentioned it and I hope she doesn't pull a 'Daria' anytime soon...

Yikes a book!

It is amazing to me also why I find her look so fascinating. I know there are changes occuring with all of us in successive picture taking sessions but my eyes are telling me that this is not what we were seeing.

It helps remembering that this is the girl of 1,000,000(+) looks and facial expressions. I have seen pics of her where her jaw looks non-existent and then 1 mile wide in the same editorial or shoot. She has an endless number of facial expressions and I have yet to figure that out. Perhaps this also is why i find myself coming back her again and again curious what Gemma I am going to see next -- even from one photoshoot taken in a single day.

And I am sure there are changes going on with everything from her skin tone to her teeth whitening to aging/maturing to whatever -- just like there are with all of us. Anyhow, I do appreciate your thoughts and think this is a fascinating subject since I can't say that I see what you see -- but think I see what you are describing but see it differently. How is that for confusing?

Also, I am acutely aware that I don't want to come across as the fellow who is defending her just to be defending her -- I'll look for some other pics that illustrate my perception about her contrasting appearances and try to post them, but suspect browsing this thread gives plenty of
We have seen so many views of her that change from day to day and moment to moment that I am not sure if we'd recognize her in her un made up "normal" look. Some of her laughing shots are most revealing -- she has a very prominent jaw and where you might see weak facial structures I find incredibly strong ones.

Her overall "look" remains a mystery to me and perhaps this may also help explain something I have never understood: why some girls become popular models and others who I think are more attractive do not. But I certainly can see why with Gemma but find it hard to describe. Also, one of my -- and I suspect OUR -- favorite things about observing models here is how many of them pale in comparison to some people we see everyday -- if you go back to the basic minimalist look.

And usually Gemma sparkles there but not always just like any other human being -- and no pic shown thus far has shown what she really looks like when she wakes up without make-up or after an all nighter of partying or staying up too late. Even in the so-called minimalist jeans shots there is make-up and professional photography working in more than a little added effect--

Well I'll stop writing a wandering book for now.... But don't think anyone has any reason to be upset with you -- some may just be suspending judgment or seeing or thinking something else.... Also, perhaps saying things like eeww may not be the most diplomatic... but we also have to cut each other some slack in here from time to time and I like seeing off the cuff remarks (instead of books like this). :innocent:

anyhow, yeah I know that trained blank runway stare is not the most appealing feature for models, and it robs Gemma of what I find most beguiling about her -- that frequently exercised broad natural looking smile of hers -- something you don't see much of in the too oftentimes overly serious world of modeling.

And while she is a "model" -- taller than most, much more under the microscope than most of us, etc, etc., she is a still a human being whose laughter and tears feel just like ours do -- no matter how much better or worse she make look being photographed doing such things.

Argh, typer's cramp.

Cheers !:flower:

haha, i love this. i am happy to know that such fascinating and eloquent people read this forum. I completely agree about her jaw line. sometimes i look at it from the side and it appears very minual, much like her sister Sophie's. at other times i see her tilt her head up and her jaw looks to be gargantuan (good example is in that photoshoot where she is with all the carnival people and she is in rainboats with her head tilted up from the front, being not a profile shot), it is remarkable how she is able to be so versatile. i am only harsh on her because she is my favorite model and i find her look to be utterly compelling and extraordinary. For extrapolating that Gemma is on drugs, and for making other blatantly ignorant comments i do apologize. i feel such comments did nothing to appraise a forum such as this, and only further depricated it. i will be sufficiently more cognizant to the subject matter of this forum in the future. haha do excuse sleep deprivation, it can really plague the mind.

wow it is very late -- just fun isn't it?

have not seen this yet I don't think -- but with so doggone many pics -- sorry if a dup -- from style.com backstage section Marc Jcobs fw06 maybe those are jowels and not a prominent jaw after all
might be interesting to see her at age 30 40 50 or beyond....:woot::woot::woot:

oops guess jowls are stereotypical babyface features.

looks like we are going to have to do that after all!!:D hopefully this season will present itself with a worthy 15 year old so we may "gawk" at her, hahahaha.:woot:

From the last several pages, Gemma doesnt have the teenage body we are use to seeing. She has hips, and her face filled out. I think she's hot, a woman now modeling.

as much as I love reading what you are all saying
I think we should stop talking about this:ermm:

does any western australian have the paper from yesterday? there was an article..half about her;) half about the new shows:lol:

Very well said :flower: Gemma looks great IMO, but perhaps a little sadder than usual.
