Link to the looks are up on the H&M home page. Are there going to be two releases or one (in November)?

^ From the HM IG looks like a pre-drop of nine looks and a few accessories will be available on May 25th (online and two NYC stores) and the full collection will be available worldwide in November.

There are only 100 pieces per SKU for the biggest ticket clothing items ensuring a quick sellout. It's designed to drum up hype for the fall launch.

I am hoping that the high prices will prevent re-selling (the mark-ups would be at the level of getting a GV piece on sale from dept stores, online retailers etc).

I'm loving the looks I've seen so far. Need that pearl sleeveless sweatshit!

I’m not sure how I feel about this. It looks like “affordable couture” (read: mediocre looking prom dresses) which is not even affordable. 400 pounds for an H&M dress sounds insane to me, I don’t care if there is Valli expertise.

a bunch of incredibly cheap, outdated and tacky looking prom dresses for prices i wouldn't even spend of his mainline. The see through organza shirt is nice but nothing you can't find everywhere else and i can't even imagine the quality of the fabric. Keep it.

I would guess the quality is on par or even better than most contemporary or designer secondary lines - Let's not forget these collaborations are to H&M more a matter of prestige and marketing value than an honest attempt to bring design to the masses (with a limited edition of 100pcs made, how could they, anyway?!). So from that perspective, the prices don't seem absolutely crazy for a multi-layered tulle dress with internal corsetry. So given all the attention and the hype these collabs are getting, I don't think the argument of being able to buy 'the real thing' on sale for the same price really holds up if there is a desirability for a dress generated you had to fight so hard to even get your hands on (unlike what you might be able to get at Yoox).

More of a get for Valli than H&M... Gives his brand some great exposure to the wider audience, he's a major designer but not necessarily a marquee name for the average consumer in the same vein as Versace or Moschino.

The overall fabric quality of the garments from previous H&M collabs has been poor, so not sure how the intricacy or delicacy of a Valli design will come out.

Will there be menswear???

Yes, there are three looks for this pre-order thing already on the site. Not a fan of those either, it’s just a bunch of lost polka dot tailoring and sheer shirts.

Two dresses from the collection....should be interesting to see how these dresses will look in the stores because that's a LOT of tulle.

Jenner went for maximum glamour via a mini dress with detachable train and neon color worn with strappy sandals and oversized pearl earrings. Lee, who has been a regular presence on best dressed lists all week thanks to her avant-garde wardrobe, went for the romanticism of a plunging neckline and petal pink ruffles.

Imagine girls grabbing tulle dresses like there is no tomorrow, as it's been the case every year. I bet a lot of trains are going to get ruined.

given the focus on sustainability initiatives, it makes any brand associated with h&m/zara look bad!

I'm not here to defend H&M, but at least they always talk a lot about how they are switching over to sustainable fabric sources, promoting recycling, organic cotton. Didn't they also pledge to use only organic cotton from a certain year onwards, or am I getting my fast fashion mixed up?

Either way, when it comes to fast fashion collaborations, H&M always pulls it out of the bag imo. Better than American brands like Target and Macy's for example.

the fabric quality is there, the designs are well supervised, lot of good details. With Donatella's recent retrospective collections for example I'm very surprised by how well the H&M collection fits in with all the designs.

Yep. H&M aren't perfect but they either dissolve the business or find ways to make it better, which they are doing. It is the only place I know that incentivises you to trade in your clothes.
