he is such a master, I feel sorry that his brand has lost its glamour since he left Dior... :(

I like what I see so far. I cannot wait to see more.

Suzy Menkes about Gianfranco Ferre FW0607

Gianfranco Ferré's sweeping red velvet drapes and projections of La Scala's interiors suggest his signature: another show of grand operatic gestures. But the designer went off on a different track, with a narrow, sober silhouette in which the Ferré flourishes were reduced to fur on the skirt of a coat or the frills and furbelows on the designer's favorite full-sail blouses. They frothed at the neck and spilled out from the sleeves of skinny pantsuits, in jacquard wool. The big-sleeved blouses, a hot Milan trend, also partnered skinny jeans.
*
The result was not so much Ferré-lite as Balenciaga's rock-the-baroque silhouette of last season reworked. To be fair to Ferré, many of those elements are also his own, and the sleek cut of jackets and long coats was in his personal spirit. They were decorated with the round military buttons that are common Milan currency. But the strong visual identity of Ferré really came through only when he was being himself - with those blouses modernized with crinkled fabrics or in purple silk with a pair of cord pants.

Damn you j'adore dior, I wanted to post this first *cries. (Karma though.)

I miss the geometry. Where's the geometry? Hopefully we get to see more...

a few more from gettyimages:

he followed the military theme aparently, it looks good but from what i´ve seen it´s not my favourite Ferre collection.

Hehe it's okay :p. I wanna be the first to post YSL or Balenciaga though (hopefully)

he became so old ..his beared is fully white...he should recive CFDA

The thing I love about his collections is that because there is a lot in them there is always something I like.

The crinkled white blouses and those two black backless dresses look wonderful.

I'm a huge Ferre fan. This collection started a little weak imo; the cheap-looking Balenciaga knockoffs didn't do it for me. But it got much more distinctive and beautiful towards the end.

sure!, but you have to be focus on catching the first pics on news.yahoo.com, usually around an hour and a half or two hours after the time of the show, those are two hot shows that several spoters are waiting for, but don´t worry about me ^_^.

Just a followup note that there's not much color in the show at all. Remember how the first half of the spring show was white? Well this show opens similarly ... grey grey grey followed by black black. This collection was well done as you'd expect, but I didn't like it as much as spring (or see as many desirable pieces). But his spring collection was really outstanding ... and this collection is a standout as well in this season's sea of meh and bleh.

PS It's been up for awhile on Italian Vogue's site.

Does anybody actually buy his clothes?
It has been ages ago that I have seen something in editorial pages...........

I love the black dress in the first picture in post 1. The detailing on the back is simply divine.
