Hair apparent: Local stylist does Fashion’s Night Out

New York’s Fashion Week can seem a world away, but for Charlottesville-based hairstylist Lucas Shaffer, it was an opportunity to show the skills he’s honed as a Redken artist— and work on the hair of supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

“It was an honor to be asked to do it,” says Shaffer, 39, who successfully auditioned for Redken a decade ago, and who plies his trade locally at be. hair loft salon on West Main Street next to Zinc restaurant.

For the Fashion Week opener— a star-studded September 10 event dubbed Fashion’s Night Out— Shaffer worked some of the ‘dos of the 200-plus models at Lincoln Center in front of a crowd of 1,500. Under famous master stylist Guido (so famous he only needs just one name), Shaffer helped to create ’50s-inspired bouffants for models.

While Guido remained in charge of Gisele’s long tresses, Shaffer did get to “tong” the hair (that’s a curling technique) of the supermodel who is married to Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady.

“She’s a very sweet, genuine person,” Shaffer says.​

I do not think it is her, they often use other models for those type of shots.

Gisele Bundchen exits an SUV while out and about in New York City with her son Benjamin Brady on Tuesday (September 14).
The 30-year-old supermodel has been spending the past week in the concrete jungle taking in everything Fashion Week has to offer!
Last week, Gisele walked the runway at the Fashion’s Night Out show at held at Lincoln Center and ate brunch with her son and some friends at Balthazar in the SoHo neighborhood.

It was as sight for sore eyes as Gisele Bundchen spent some quality mommy time with baby boy Benjamin in New York’s Hudson River Park on Saturday aftenroon (September 18).

Joined by friends, the Brazilian supermodel was seen doting on her little son, playing with him and even playfully nibbling his ear!
