Givenchy F/W 12.13 Paris

another thing : what's going on with the styling here? there are so many amazing pieces here and there but it all together looks like a big mess. riccardo also needs to burn the brown leather pants on saskia cause they're the most unflattering thing i've ever seen

Too much. I love how it opened, very true to the spirit of Givenchy, but I felt like Tisci became almost too playful with some of the dresses and other elements. Nonetheless, I imagine this collection will translate fantastically into editorial.

So much of this just looks messy and where he uses colours here it doesn't work at all for me. How disappointing.

me like! especially those dresses at the end!

I think that this collection, at least was interesting to view. For me this season Givenchy best interpreted gothic theme. Some pieces were good, but I agree that another collection part was really mess.

I think I am official done with Givenchy and Riccardo. This is one of his worst collections. He's entered a new level of tackiness. Each look looks very heavy handed, over thought and over styled. The fit is the worst I've seen from him thus far. The colors also are the most offensive I've seen. Random hues of oranges mixed with blues, purple, and pale blush, on top of reds, browns, tans, and blacks. There comes a point where too much, is just too much.

I echo what others have said about the strength of the first seven looks. Those looks had me thinking of Pugh and Vandevorst.

Problem is that - and it got worse at it went on - the little touches of intricacy - the lace, the lingerie, the flippy frou skirts; the funny scarves like ties, the paillettes, the overbright colours - give a sort of antiquated feel, overwrought. So some sort of synthesis between edge and status seeking luxury seems to have been attempted. Those are a tough couple of codes to synthesize as they pull in opposite directions. A meeting place can perhaps be found in a notion of a gothic femme fatale but in Tisci's hands this time around that synthesis just didn't work and as someone else intimated, it came out just a little too Vauderville. The fix might have been to carry on as he started and stay closer to the edge.

As it was, if there was supposed to be some sort of edgy lady, all too often the fine line into cheap wh*re was crossed.

Definitely one of his worst collections.
A total lack of identity, as others have said and I find most of it very costumey.

Eek, what a horrid collection. Surely his worst ever collection.

This is tied with Burberry for the ugliest collection I have seen this season.

There was just way too much going on here. Every model looks like a 90s mall goth. Is that was he was going for...? The sad thing is that next season I am sure we will be seeing millions of "trendy bloggers" wearing this collection.

This looks so bad in so many ways. I don't even know where to begin: the makeup is horrendous, the styling looks awful (the girls look like silly teens in their goth phase and that is never a good idea for a show like this), some clothes are amazing while others (the final dresses) don't ever look like something Riccardo would ever do. What a season - all the big designers seem to have gone insane.

hm... I've mixed feelings for this collection. I like some of the pieces but some just look tacky...

leather and lace are two different worlds

this is problably the colection from Ricardo in Givenchy that I less like it, after such an amazing season, this just looks poor.
Its like hes trying to hard to do gotic - because its what people are expecting from him.
It just looks too forced and not so effortless as the other ones.
I really like some dresses, like that 2 colorful dresses on the middle and some looks from the begining, but this isnt ,for sure, the best by Tisci.

I thought I'd never see the day where Givenchy by Tisci and purple lace shimmery camisole dresses would be in the same sentence. O_O

This is kind of all over the place, as others have pointed. It's like a duck; he tries to tackle all the bases - leather & lace, daywear & eveningwear, rough & delicate, dresses & suits- and he does none of that well, especially since the materials and fabrics look very, very cheap. I agree that it's one of the worst colelctions Riccardo has done - and the idea wasn't even that bad.

Oh, and those boots are hideous.

This is really a mess! I had to double check to actually see if this was Givenchy. Some of it looks nice and the ideas seem good but it is badly styled and poorly executed. Those dresses at the end are some of the tackiest things I have seen this season. It seems Ricardo has reached a level of designer infallibility within the critics because I cannot understand how he let such a messy collection to be seen by the public! Maybe the HQ pictures& vid will change my mind.

Yeah, I think it's the styling.. the only thing that gives a 'Monet' () spin to this, great from afar, but pull it apart and there's not much to rescue. Bummer, cause I was one of the few that did love and got excited with his pre-fall collection. Someone's facing off strong rivals.. the pencil's shakin'. :p
