Givenchy Haute Couture F/W 06.07 Paris

I hate to sound rude but honestly, you seem to have a very disillusioned idea of what having a spirit or soul is. This is Riccardo. Obviously you never seen Tisci's work before Givenchy but this is very much who he is and always has been thus far. You equate Galliano with having a spirit but I hate to burst your bubble but his work is nothing more than gimmicks and shocking people....that's not having a spirit.

So agreed - I was unimpressed with Galliano this season, and yet everyone seemed to be going crazy over him.

I love that cream collared look. Its truly art and thats what a collection should be!

I kind of miss this from Riccardo. I don't know how describe the difference in feeling I get from this collection from his most recent few Couture collections, but I wish he could return to something along these lines. I know that his most recent show is a feat of technical mastery and I appreciate that, but there's something very brave about showing a basic, yet quirky turtleneck top and fringe skirt with a tribal feathered headdress...or a deceivingly simple ostrich leather dress in total monochrome beige...or ungratuitously giving a gorgeous model a golden goatee.

Maybe I'm reading to much into this, and maybe I'm seeing a difference in style that actually doesn't exist outside of my mind...but I think he's changed. Maybe not in a bad way, necessarily, but changed for sure. Tell me if you think I'm wrong. I'd love to hear from others...

Thanks so much for the HQs, I think this is the first time I've seen this collection in High Quality. The pieces with the woodwork like detailing are unbelievable. They're so complex and beautiful.

I've been thinking similar things.. I got the impression though, he is returning to this in the last couture show. I haven't been keeping up-to-date with his reviews, maybe since it was done privately it gave him more freedom that there's less people to please. Design elsewhere has certainly changed, just seems to have got harsher in general. Shapes, palette, etc. -though with pre-fall/resort, I think there's always this part of him in there somewhere.
