Givenchy Haute Couture S/S 2011 Paris

I understand how people compare this to the previous collection with the sheerlings and some embellishments, but if you look closely to the details they are VASTLY different. Bravo Riccardo.

I could've told you the swan/crane dress was McQueen and you wouldnt know the difference

same goes for the vest

this is like the last couture collection but with a splash of colour and obnoxious hats. i'm very disappointed of givenchy rn.

^No doubt Tisci's still Tisci, i can find his signatures effortlessly but his extraordinary talent is that he always takes very good advantage of his inspiration and then evolves into his own philosophy.
This collection is extremely poetic and fused with something named Culture, at least i can tell the quinessence of Nippon from the headpiece to the shoes.
Breathtaking, dazzling i 'm out of my words here......

Absolutely amazed by this. The inspiration is evident, but it is not cliched. The headdress are ridiculous, but it shows the fun side of Riccardo. These garments need to be and deserve to be observed up close and personal to be appreciated for the craftsmanships. The colors are heavenly; soft, yet sharp. I know no model talk but the cast is the best! All Asians, how freakin' fantastic!

Totally amazing! :buzz:
The only problem I have with this: It reminds too much of last season's collection.
The japanese theme is fantastic though!
I actually pray for a runway show for next season...

japanishm is my favorite way of doing minimalism. and here it's coupled with astounding details and intricate embroidery that look so simple, yet are so complex. maximalistic minimalistic approach.

the first detail shot alone is beautiful enough to make me tear up.

This, honestly, is probably the first time I have gasped over a show in yeeeeaaarrrssss.
This is just astoundingly, undeniable beauty.

Yes, I definitely teared up a bit with this one.

no updates? I really love the japanese inspiration and the casting.

Loving this! Best show so far in my opinion.
Riccardo Tisci can do no wrong in my eyes <3

Speaking of the differences between AM and Tisci, they're never the same. While the pre-fall Sarah Burton collection is a little bit pre-Tisci inspired???? No kidding, the tailoring, the colors, truth doesn't lie.

holy givenchy! the collection is just superb as always!
ricardo never fails brings the haute couture collection!
i'm so orgasm looking those collection..

This is really amazing.
Can't wait to get more detailed pictures, as then, it's sure to look even better

Who cares if it looks like last collection? Why is there this need to go from one extreme look to another, season after season?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The silhouettes might feel as same as last HC collection but there's definitely diefferences and I think it's the way he now uses to work on the house HC craftsmanship that remains. There're so many intriguing techniques he works on the collection that leaves me speechless and just "wow" how HC it is. The palette is so sweet and I can really see the Japanese influences. This is just divine!! A right amount of gimmick with stunning techniques and glorious creativity. This is the best couture this season so far.
