Givenchy S/S 2016 New York

oh, he remade some of his past hc pieces? that's interesting. the rest, not so much. i mean, there's asbolutely nothing i hate here (which is rare with his recent collections) but nothing new either. i do love most of the clothes presented though

He needs to go.

Or maybe that was what this collection was about? An indication that he has other plans. I mean why would a designer go to his rather recent archives and simply copy them seam for seam. It makes little sense, except he is trying to say something. At this point, I don't mind seeing him go. He's become too inconsistent and his vision for the brand has been long achieved and is seriously wanting now.

And some makeups look familiar too...I think maybe it's just for Riccardo's 10th year anniversary in Givenchy?

Beautiful show, great cast and gorgeous clothes even if they weren't especially new. This show definitely felt like a final chapter in a way. Makes me really curious about the future for Riccardo and Givenchy.

Candice's fall is indeed the best thing here. Is it just me or even the make-up was terrible? Nothing relevant here. Nothing new. Nothing... Worst than being "horrible" is being "nothing". Just "meh". You can't say it's good and you sure can't say it's ugly. It's just boring.

It's sort of astonishing that he would totally repeat dresses that he's made before and that have been such big hits in magazines and on the red carpet. Does he think we won't remember this? Or are we supposed to be impressed/moved by this constant circling around and repetition?

Either way, Riccardo is doing nothing new and he isn't pushing himself. I'm also quite curious about what this means for him and the future of the brand.

i don't actually mind that he picked 10 haute couture looks and re-made them, but it would've made much more sense if he picked them from 10 different collections, at least. it does indeed look random - but not necessarily lazy, imo, it's his 10 years anniversary after all.

Please bring Givenchy back.
The casting was great tho.

Great cast. It was a little try-hard imo with the 9/11 thing.

The first girl that fell, my heart jumped for her. Candice falling was..... amusing.

It's his 10th anniversary celebration, in all laziness he's done, it's the one with every reason not to be blamed. gees you guys.

It's S/S 2010 all over again. So lazy and generic. Though the men's pieces were largely great, I can't get beyond how out of place it all is.

It's really hard to have big expectations and then being let down. It's even harder when it's by one of your favorite designer.
I have to say that that show was really painful to watch and was also one of his worst yet.

Everything feels try-hard to be iconic: from the black & white palette, to the cast and everything. But at the end, it feels flat.
The first part of the collection is a total disaster. The Couture part felt "easy". I mean, if you wants to re-make some iconic couture pieces, create something new with them as a starting point.
What's the point of doing the same clothes in black & white?

The menswear was good, very Helmut Lang (i mean even more than usual) and the last RTW part was decent.

It's so frustrating because we all know that this is not a good collection from him but with all the buzz around that special event, everybody will make it into something that it wasn't.

Raquel walking was great!

This show doesn't summarizes the great 10 years of fashion that he offered.
In a season big in anniversary collections, i have to say that i'm a bit afraid now.

I like the non, hyper-sexualized items. All of the sexy items here I can picture being worn on Kim and all of Ricardo's celebrity friends.
