Givenchy S/S 2018 Paris

I really liked that. The final looks were so beautiful. Even if the daywear was pretty messy and we-don't-want-to-alienate-Riccardo's-and-Chloé's-customer this collection was still pretty strong. I liked the colour palette, it was unexpected and the combinations were interesting.

I think this is a strong debut. The mens collection is equally strong and I really like tailoring here. She really has a knack for accessories. The collection feels very sensual and strong without being gimmicky which I can appreciate in this age of fashion.

OK, where is the good stuff? Show me the thing behind the counter.:D

Surprisingly the menswear , esp the suits ( Asian model in double breast suit and black model in red/blue suit) were the best parts of the show. Its a strong debut but she needs to work on putting out better pants and bring a more louche vibe which she did at Pringle and Chloe. Its still far better than most of the atrocious collections I have seen in Paris.

The menswear screams Hedi @ Saint Laurent but I don’t mind it, overall it’s really appealing to me (and most probably the retailers)

A bit disappointing. While all the pieces of the collection itself are very good, the whole thing felt kinda soulless and lacking direction. She just threw a bunch of clothes together in such a blunt and cold way. I didn't get the slightest clue of what her vision for the house is or will be. The styling is very weak and this looked way more Saint Laurent than Givenchy.

Reality is great, but we need just a little touch of fantasy to create desire.

I like it, the second part of womenswear really saves the collection and the menswear is pretty strong. However, I find the first part kind of messy and overall I don't see a clear vision. I had much higher expectations from her.

I expected more but I'm not extremely disappointed. Though I thought it was gonna be a bit more bourgeoisie based on the teaser campaign. It's a bit of a mix of Saint Laurent, Vuitton, and Isabel Marant, so it's so confusing as to who Keller's Givenchy woman will be.
Overall, not bad!

I may be way in over my head here, but I kinda wish she would resurrect the label's couture shows. I just miss Givenchy on the couture calendar (especially since a lot of unworthy brands arrogantly decided to show during that week also!)

Clare's going to do that. What's more, she wants to develop couture for men, too.

It's a no from me.
You can find these types of clothes across high fashion and fast fashion alike. For me, it's not aspirational at all. Yes, Riccardo slid into a weird space towards the end of his time at Givenchy, but it was still interesting. This does nothing for me.

It's boring, and so safe. What am I supposed to be gripped by here? What am I supposed to remember?

is it just me or is everything just bluring into one big collection? Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Dior.. the list goes on. It's like 1990 again, when old houses were boring and stale , and young Designers the Future. Which, come to think of it , might actually be a good thing
