Grace with Gary Cooper and director Fred Zinneman on the set of "High Noon". She juggled affairs with both men during filming of the movie.

I personally don't think she should have left Hollywood, but I am not sure her career would have panned out so well if she had stayed.
So true. One of the reasons Grace left Hollywood is because there was the beginning of a backlash against her. A lot of Hollywood female insiders (powerful gossip columnists, wives of studio heads, etc.) were starting to plot to destroy her career because of all the affairs with married men she had.

PS: nobody answered my question about The Swan. Is it because nobody has seen it?

Harumi, what are your sources on this? I do know that a lot of hollywood wives hated grace-Henry Hathaway-he was a director who worked with Grace and who had an affair with her-his wife hated her and said the famous quote" She may have worn white gloves, but she was no lady". I may not have the quote exactly right, that is pretty much what she said.

^Scriptgirl, my source is the Lee Server biography on Ava, and my question was 'Is the movie any good'?

Also, many, many thanks for your fabulous contribution. (Kochie and nmyngan too, great pictures ).

Oh, well, I haven't seen it in years, but it was pretty good- not great but an OK costume romance...Worth seeing but not worth looking endlessly for a copy of... ;)

Lee Server talks about Grace in his book on Ava-how does he relate her to Ava?

love this pic wow so beautiful

As far as "The Swan", Harumi, I have never seen it. It ranks up there with "14 Hours" and "Green Fire" as Grace's most obscure films. I get the impression that it is very close to "Roman Holiday" with elements of "The Prince and the Showgirl."
