Why do some people think that beauty is boring?

Did you see the study that had babies looking at pictures of women and they measured how long the babies looked at the pictures. The babies all looked longest at the beautiful women. They used babies from two different countries and the babies agreed on who was most beautiful (by looking at them the longest).

So our appreciation of beauty is inborn (or "hard-wired" as some of us say).

I hope they do some more studies on this. I never get tired of seeing pictures of beautiful women like Grace or Doutzen.

I never really understood that either. The whole beauty is boring concept is really prevalent in the fashion industry. You hear criticism that the "classically" beautiful models are too boring. Then you get the models who have different or strange features whose faces are plastered everywhere.

Same goes with movie stars like Grace. Though I think Grace had this glow about her that made her so interesting. Her look has never bored me

agreed, her look is classical and never boring. She's just a classical beauty icon.

she is a classical beauty icon! i think that goes back to what scriptgirl had asked. the "why do you think that we are still talking about Grace's style 50 years later" question.

im such a fan of grace not only because of her style but also because of her presence. she was so naturally beautiful and her style just seemed so effortless. she never let the clothes wear her. when you look at old pictures its hard not to notice her

Kochie, you bring up a very good point when you say that Grace never let clothes wear her. I am a huge fan of Liz and Ava, but as gorgeous as they were, they are not known for their style. Nothing they wore, except Liz's jewels, were memorable. Why that is, I don't know. I just know that they are not style icons. Really, Audrey and Grace and to a smaller degree, Natalie Wood, were THE style icons of the 50s.

she's a natural beauty. these days people (fashion fans) are so used to unconventional that anything that's classic is deemed boring. *Princess Grace is one of those that epitomize beauty

This is in stark contrast to the pic where Grace was apparently scolding Caroline.

^thanks! i had only seen that picture with watermarks all over it
its definitely different from the other picture

Wow, with all of the comparisons, I can barely believe that Rachel Blanchard hasn't been mentioned. If she was, I must have completely missed it. But she reminds me of Grace quite a lot, especially in photos. She hardly possesses the same elegance that Grace did, but their similarity in looks is really hard to ignore. Especially to me in this photo:

So, am I crazy, or can other people see it too?

I don't think she looks like Grace. I think Rachel McAdams is the closest thing we have to a "new" Grace and I even hesitate to say that.

Her clothes were wonderful too. Why, I don't know either. They were very restrained, womanly, elegant. People didn't keep on dressing like kids their whole life.
