Grey's Anatomy

If you rewatch the episode on ABC.com, you can see the scene at 13:33 and 13:34. There is a single shot from Mer's right side when she looked up at the little girl. You will see another Mer appear on her own left side. The 2nd Mer in the background was looking down on a patient.

Didn't George say there is a dead little girl?

ok i watched it think i know what you are talking about but are you sure its her? i mean you can hardly see the person?

oh and george did say there was a dead girl, but i bet there were lots of dead girls. and meredith isnt the only one who can see the little girl, the paramedic was holding her hand until he ran off to help someone else

^ you mean the one that you can hardly see the hair/head but it's blur so you can't make out who's exactly? Not exactly in the background, more like up her shoulder.

yes LoveLetter he said that 5 didn't make it, 4 adults and one child and then the mother asked "child, you found a child?" and then if it was a boy or a girl and George said a girl.

I watched the part with the little girl, and yes the paramedic was holding her hand but when he let go the girl was standing alone people passing by and then she disappeared. Not went somewhere, disappeared.

^i dont think that meant anything, i think it was just showing how quickly a little girl can disappear in such a crowd. i dont think grey's anatomy is the kind of show that would have ghosts, etc.

^ya i agree, but hey if one of the crazy comments was correct that would make for some interesting and different tv

He also spoke to her told her to wait there while he went out into the crowd again.

Apparently no one noticed the 2 Mers thing until Shonda, the producer who also is one of the writers, mentioned it on GA podcast. She also said that shot is significant. Friends of mine are guessing maybe that little girl is Mer's inner child or that she is the dead girl who came to help Mer deal with things. (I know, I know, we should all get a life.:p ) This is not just a simple ER episode.

Excerpt from the writers' blog:

But please remember that next week, things get even more interesting and then the week after that, they get REALLY interesting.

Ferry boats are a metaphor for Meredith, you know.

What I was interested in was Meredith and how she was doing after being hurt by her mother. And the devastation of the ferry boat was the best way to physicalize Meredith’s pain.

The little girl? She’s also a metaphor for Mer. A motherless lost girl who can’t speak for herself and disappears? Okay, that’s too obvious. But you all know Meredith’s been doing a dance with death for some time. Y’all know that if you’ve been watching. She’s dark, our girl. She’s dark and twisty. And I worry about her.

Now, I’m really worried about her because she’s in the water and I want to be clear with you: I don’t put people in the water for no reason. Meredith’s got issues, she’s got serious Mommy issues and she’s broken and she’s in the water.

I killed Denny. I blew up Dylan.

I’m not entirely playing by the rules of TV here.

There’s a point. And it’s coming. Shoots With A Script and I have our fingers and toes crossed that it works.

Because what happens next…well, just wait and see…

Denny and Dylan were not the main cast, so I don't know why shes stroking "I'm a different kind of writer" ego there.

^Denny was a significant plot though, and the Dylan thing must have been pretty traumatic for Meredith since he did blow up in front of her. Still that doesnt mean shes a different kind of writer

^ i agree. she isnt a different kind of writer. Look at Lost, the writers kill of main characters all the time

^yes they do which makes me sad...i get over it though

apparently new character is being introduced
