Gucci Cruise 2017 by Glen Luchford

I love the concept and Vanessa but the execution seems sloppy imo, what is that badly photoshoped bag?
I can´t wait to see more of Vanessa in a -hopefully- more prominet role.

If you switched the thread title to Dolce and Gabbana I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. What was the justification for firing Frida?? She wasn't selling enough clothes? How is the new designer selling clothes??

^Purely based on the fact that Alessandro Michele's Gucci's is just the new bandwagon for the fashion crowd to jump on!

I was never a one to hide the fact I was a fan of Frida Giannini, and I sure did love the vast majority of her advertising campaigns whilst at Gucci. I'd take another Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott studio shoot over anything by Glen Luchford at this stage, because Alessandro Michele's Gucci is just not to my taste whatsoever - from the clothes to the campaigns.

Not even Vanessa Redgrave can save this for me, sorry!

I love it! There's always such a beautiful notion of storytelling with Alessandro's clothes & campaigns, this one is no different. Looks like it could be a still from a movie or an old painting, the composition is great. Makes you intrigued to know more about the people in it. Like the Lisbeth Salander-looking girl, did her parents forced her to spend a summer vocation with her little sister and her fabulous grandma in the countryside? All this going and still selling the collection and accessories really well.

I can't wait for more pictures!

that's what I keep asking myself. who's buying those horrid clothes?? you gonna look like a complete idiot in them!

sales have gone up so what's your point?

^ I'm sure in time Alessandro's Gucci will start to decline. It's the same thing over and over each season. Eventually people are gonna get bored of it and i really hope that this youth scene trend and the bandwagon jumping ends. I'll be waiting!!

I don´t think people are buying the clothes but the bags and shoes.

The idea could have been great but this is one of the worst technically executed photographs I have seen in a while. There's absolutely no depth, light seems to come from every possible angle. Half of the plants look dead or comatose. The amateur photoshop on the bag, etc etc. Shame on you Glen.

They really seem to be careening off the rails in terms of the timing of their campaigns. I mean, Cruise won't even be available to buy in stores until holiday time, so why bother promoting it now? And what will they promote come December, Spring/Summer?

It makes no sense.

Tragedy continues.

 I knew you'd be here to hate on this!

I love it! Of course I love Vanessa Redgrave first and foremost, but I also like the audacity Michele and Luchford had to use an actual gran for their campaign. It alludes very much to Gucci's granny chic. I just hope their audience will be clever enough to pick up that what Vanessa is wearing is in fact what's on show. I also like the fact that this isn't a direct anti-ageism statement. Vanessa is being utilised here exactly as they would with some nameless model, that makes it rather novel for me.

The actual image is right up my street. There's so much to take in, the expansive countryside, composition and Wes Anderson styling. Like a quirkier and artsy Leibovitz take. More location for Luchford, please! :pink:

I'd like to think that the people who oppose Michele's direction are not in fact against change per se, but more his actual direction? But surely we can let this one house beat on their own drum. It makes things at least a bit more interesting. Especially when every other house seems to recycle the same dull ideas over and over.

It looks like one of those hilarious movie stills where Benjamin Seidler has photoshopped designer clothes on the characters. I think this is a wasted opportunity.

^Thanks!
I love it more as well. I wouldn´t wear most of these clothes but the styling, location even models work so beautifully. The pic of the goth girl with the chickens in that over the top outfit is my favorite. My only complaint is that there´s little Vanessa.

the campaign includes models Hannelore Knuts, Ellen de Weer, Sophia Friesen, Nika Cole, Dwight Hoogendijk, Nick Fortna, Conner Rowson and Victor Kusma.

I wanna see Hannelore!!!!

^so there are more pics? :D
is Hannelore playing the mom? :pink:
