Gucci Pre-Fall 2026 Milan

pastiche really is the proper word. the late 90s tom ford spotlight effect is doing all the work, because the clothes are not desirable(most are barely designed) and a lot of the models come of as nervous in a ‘first day of school’ way and not sexy or cool. The glam team did great though, and I actually do really really like the final two dresses.

But this kind of direct approximating is for Pinterest boards. Even if it manages to work out moneywise, it’s still creatively hollow. Not that I expect a pre-fall to be groundbreaking.

I'm going to wait until Demna presents the Fall collection since that is supposedly going to be his true vision for Gucci. But so far, this is feeling soulless. His Balenciaga benefitted from the fact it had the street cred and strong world/exclusive club building from his Vetements and early Balenciaga. Around 2020, he went full-on pop culture with his Balenciaga (I still remember in 2019 how shocking it was to have Bella Hadid walk a Balenciaga show). His Gucci on the other hand has not built up that allure or club that you want to peak in and be a part of; I.e. I'm not sure if Alex Consani is the right muse to start this re-pivot of Gucci with.

Exactly!! it wont have any effect now because its already done. the magic has been used up, making this presentation by demna just seem washed up and just.. not anything special as it was the first time around.

with a strong provintial russia aftertaste. i don't get how anyone can consider this presentation desirable. tom ford's gucci was sexy in a primal sense of the word but this is not. maybe there's too many tricks – replicating the archives first, replicating cheap photography from the late 90s second.

Demna is literally one of the worst things that have happened to fashion. I rather have Sabato than Demna, and I really mean it. I can’t with his stup!d irony.

I'm sorry but after a few weeks since the collection has been released I only save the Frida inspired flou A line dresses with foulard prints. I love them because they are UNEXPECTED! No one was expecting Demna (or any other designer) to revisit Frida's tenure. I would have swapped those sequined glittery column dresses that are very Shein like and extremely tacky with a reintepretation of Frida's sheer flowy ball gowns that were HUGE in the early 2010's. Frida basically started the sheer gown red carpet trend and no one is giving her proper credit.
Everyone was waiting for Demna to release a Tom Ford 2.0 collection but make it 2026 because Gucci reached its rock bottom, it's very cliché to revisit the staples from designer who once saved Gucci from irrelevancy 30 years ago. Maybe if the execution had not been so LITERAL, I would have appreciated the collection more. As many of you already stated, the collection feels like a Gay Halloween costume Tom Ford themed party. I am sure Tom himself loathed it too.
Meanwhile it's been almost 1 year since Demna got appointed as Gucci creative director and we still haven't seen a campaign or an accessory release. Then you enter a Gucci store and you find RTW that looks like YSL Vaccarello rejects with GG logos, oversized half horsebit details on EVERY single accessory and the obnoxious monogram on entry level items. It's a nightmare honestly.
