Gucci S/S 2026 Milan

If this was in mink I would sooo fw this , so would most local women in NYC , we love our minks . Just put a sustainable fur label . I guarantee you 1000% girls in Brooklyn will take this design to leather boutiques in NYC to get this made like it lmao

There needs to more vision at Gucci, lot of this is basically a cleaned up AM Gucci but their target market is Gen Z clients and this sauve marketing will resonate with them. Demna did a good job overall but I am not convinced till I see a proper show and new bags.

Very interesting point of view Lola.
Maybe they wanted with Sabato to go more for luxury and because they failed miserably they are now forced to go back to fashion.

Luxury is boring because it tends to be timeless; fashion is risky because it needs to surprise.
A balance between the two is rarely given (Karl at Chanel).
Most houses fall in one field or the other, with the inherent pros and cons.
People buy Vuitton for the status. It’s a status symbol. People buy Hermes for the status. People buy Chanel for the status. The brands are so solidified, their products have proven an enduring longevity either in terms of design, style or status than a good collection or a good creative direction is just the icing on a cake.

I know a lot of people who hates logos but who have Vuitton monogram luggage. It’s timeless, it’s still a status symbol and it’s a durable product.

For some reason, people find the GG from Gucci tacky. But as we saw it during the Alessandro Michele years, because Gucci was driving the fashion conversation, it became hot again.

For me, they have to rethink and redesign their entire line.
What Ancora did wasn’t all bad. What he did with the B bag for example in it monogram version wasn’t bad: just the monogram, silver. Hardware, brown leather.

Does a Gucci monogram bag needs the gg, the web stripes and the obnoxious double G buckle?

And it’s really important because those are the entry priced items. The products that seats in stores forever. So if you loose desirability on your timeless products, it’s very hard to build on that.

We hear and some of us know people who collects Chanel bags, Hermes bags, Balenciaga Moto bags, Fendi bags, Vuitton bags. In all the circles of women I’m around, I have never heard of someone collecting YSL and Gucci bags!
I even know someone who collected Alexander McQueen clutches!

It’s a difficult balance as you said but it’s both a creative and executive effort.
Kim Jones terrible collections didn’t hurt Fendi so much because nobody can touch their bags in Italy. And Fendi, does well, very well with leather, much better than with the monogram.

Honestly ... Im a little tired of Gucci. I love and own pieces from the glorious TF era and after him ... not a big fan. Except for Sabato. I think his collections were the perfect mix of commercial giving luxe for the house.
But what do I know, im one of the minorities who loved Tomas Maier when he was at BV and people STILL finding incredibly boring.
This collection has the usual Demna, good styling, being tongue in cheek, etc.
Do I like it? Its OK. I think I will wait til I see it in the racks. But it looks VERY bland. (so far)

Can I say that I miss Sabato? 🫣

I also miss PDFS opinions, wonder what she/he thinks.

I am overwhelmed by the amount of IG and TikTok posts saying Demna is bringing back the essence of Gucci  What’s that even? I think I wanna cry. There’s literally no hope in humanity.

We, in general, are so easy and simple. It’s really a miracle that genius and smart people exist.

That last picture could be something by that terrible designer called AM. I can’t even.

He / She made in advance a meme with the Titanic facing an iceberg and a huge cat, and warned us to please remember it on the 23rd (maybe knowing in advance that he/she wouldn't be with us anymore?)... everything is so mysterious 😍

I understand your cioranesque despair.
When you think about it, one of the main principles of fashion is that one piece of something will be adopted without much discernment by thousands of people, beehaving like sheeps.
You can totally lose hope in humanity.

Let's have fun, though 🥳

A profecy then. What was the meaning of the cat tho? The tiger? Hahha She/he was genius.

The thing that she was missing was that after the crash, second and third class were going to praise the captain for crashing the ship

And instead of sinking, the ship starts flying…

At this point, even I don't have an idea of what Gucci is 🤣
I mean, I don’t even know and that’s the thing!

Gucci is nothing, so you can’t bring back any essence. And if you call essence what they did in the 30s, 40s, 50s… this has nothing to do with it.

I find it so ridiculous to say such things.

Tom Ford is not the essence of Gucci, nor is AM. Gucci has been many things and if it has an essence, it is definitely not this.

The essence of Gucci for most people (me included, I think) it is: "loud". Do whatever you want but shout it.
They tried "quiet" and it didn't work.

Now, what is this collection?
It is a five-stars Balenciaga.
I don't think there was one single look that we hadn't seen before.

As of now, this is not a big problem, because first of all Demna gave THE show of the season (to be confirmed and IMHO) and also because the timing was tight and one designer cannot reinvent himself in three months.

But you know and I know what happens when you watch a Valentino show and you don't know if it's old Gucci... it is a sure recipe for failure.

So if he is smart, Demna will surprise in the next show, this time with the collection itself.

The essence of Gucci to me is ease and accessibility. It’s about wardrobe pieces but mainly, to carry something. Bags, luggage, accessories etc. When I see these looks, I don’t see someone effortlessly making a Gucci bag seem expensive. They seem like a faux pas and a fashion victim. A brand wh*re.

Michele’s earliest collections had that effortlessness in some way because it was new at the time but not so ostentatious. It was in polar opposite to Frida but it worked. Then a year later he upped the ante and injected the maximalism. But that became tiring, and customey. This is the same thing from the get go. How does this work in the real world? How is this convincing me to thing that a Gucci bag will inject the right aura to my wardrobe? Can I be convinced that buying a piece from this collection will make sense in my wardrobe? No is the answer to all of the above.

Gucci needs reality. It’s leather accessories first and foremost. And I’m not even understanding that here. It’s all vibes.
