It is going difficult for Chanel to top it.
Why on earth would she agree to wear that particular piece. She's probably the richest person on the red carpet (her and serena williams,) and she picked monograms. Interesting. How much did they have to pay Gwyneth to wear that horrendous monogram look? Maybe she’s just trolling us at this point, since the outfit is the polar opposite of the aesthetic she launched with her GWYN line the other week.
Mind you, she was just at Michael Kors last week—which says something about the level of exclusivity Gucci is trying to project.![]()
Be nice honey the rapture is today.I’m not impressed.
It’s good, it’s more engaging than whatever Gucci has produced for years (and I include Michele years too).
It’s good to see something that looks like a spark from Gucci again. I wasn’t a fan of the twins show and maybe the last few years of Michele. He did the show in Hollywood so Hollywood in the Gucci narrative is not new.
Sabato’s era was about a color, a soundtrack and the design of his stores.
I think the fear was that Gucci was going to end up being too close to Balenciaga. I’m waiting for next show to see if Demna can pull something out of him that is more than sweatshirts and trolling.
But I fail to be impressed. Literally, since 2015 and the debut of Michele, we have witness Gucci referencing the same old Tom Ford collections. At this point I’m even tired. The fact that it’s presented in a different way doesn’t change the outcome.
So yes, it’s promising but I want more from Demna.
I loved how you said it....the rapture is today.
The problem is that Gucci operates still like a fashion brand. Vuitton, over the past 10 years has turned into a global luxury lifestyle brand.Louis Vuitton is a way bigger brand, yet its PR and marketing feel more mature and grounded, while Gucci often comes across as pretentious. The brand again relies on gimmicky move and exaggerated campaigns, and that’s a double-edged sword imo. The upside (at least what I assume the suits believe) is the massive buzz it generates. But the downside is obvious: it seriously damages the brand’s image, tbh I don't even get why people still love this brand in 2025. The kind of long-term depth and sustainability is something Kering will never be able to reach compared to LVMH.
Hope Chanel steals all the spotlight!
