Gwynnie has another bash at the Brits

Fair enough if it isn't a patriotic thing. I was refering to the 'people' who took umbrage that you mentioned. I don't object to Gwyneth because I think she is a snob... it is more her wet fishness that bores me.

Wet fishness! That's funny!!

But if other people take offense becuase of what she said, and it's based on something patrotic, then that's their perogative. I know if I was in the US right now making any anti-US Culture comments, I'd be chased down the street. nd inf act she herself was once incredibly defensive about the US when it was being attacked, saying we're the best nation on earth.

I don't particularly dig patriotism and certain world events make me realise what an ugly thing it can be. But sometimes comments are made where I think, alright luv calm down stop having a go........

If some people choose to defend her attacks in a patriotic snse, it's fair dos although in theory I don't always agree with it.

But that isn't good!

Anyway many people disagree with me on my patriotism stance because it is human nature. But I think it is a far more insiduous thing than people realise or care to know and plus, there are a lot of parts of human nature we HAVE to squash in our daily lives whether it is patriotism or greed or selfishness or tribalism...

This has kind of got away from Ms Patrow hasn't it!

Rephrase: I mean when the US is criticised for a variety of reaons she's taken offense in the past yet she slags off other nations.

We have gone off on a tangent but it's good discussion that's been brought up, and its' all relevant.

Anyway i hate the woman. She should stay indoors.

Well that is *whispers* certain Americans for you.

Thankfully for you she is pregnant so she probably will! No more 'Gwynnie on her moped' shots in tabloid papers

I'm having another bash at syndicated news. Am I the only person who's sick of reading the exact same story on about ten different websites all over the world?

Britain does have a drink problem, like most other North European cultures.

Roppal is right though...She's making comments about drunk women, and not drunk men. Additionally, she feels as if she's some righteous never-do-wrong princess, and can't keep her judgemental comments to herself.

I don't understand how Gwyneth Paltrow is soooo adored, and I feel like vomiting when every magazine talks about her "good manners" when later in the article she's incredibly rude. If she were to just find an island somewhere, that would be ideal, except for the poor sand crabs she's be constantly judging.

That's because they're irritating as hell in this country, at least the men stay in old man pubs and quietly beat each other up and vomit on each other or whatever it is they do. Whereas... hordes of posh girls seem to have nothing better to do than scream on the street from about 11 to 3 in the morning.

that sounds terrible, but not as terrible as her acting.

Whereabouts do you live then? I see hoardes of drunken men on the streets late at night, kicking the crap out of people, hollering at women, and at ones that aren't even out clubbing.

Maybe the Saudis have got it right then hey? Take the alcohol away and keep women indoors....?

I live in the same kind of affluent area that I would guess Gwynnie lives in.

She's a wack job for sure......she can't decide one way to another....talk about bi-polar disorder. Her mood with the public in general is rubbish. What's up with -yes I do like the english fashion sense- yet -the english women are drunken fools- I don't get it.....However I suppose people are intitled to their opinions. My opinion is Gwyneth is a hypocrite in lot of ways. Hahahaha......I'm just glad she's not living in the US anymore.....:p :D

You can be a fashionable drunk......

You should get out more and see that drunken behaviour isn't exclusive to women then.

And Kalista in re: to being fashionably drunk? So you do think drunken behaviour is acceptable as long as it's done in a cool way.

I meant dress sense....And if you've read my earlier post in this thread you'd know I cannot stand drunks.

I'm not complaining about the extremely high rate violent crime in Glasgow, because I don't live in Glasgow: Gwyneth Paltrow is not complaining about drunken men quite possibly because she doesn't come into contact with a lot of drunken men. Drunken women are irritating - why shouldn't it be said that they are?

This is not difficult to understand.

I totally agree with what she is saying, and I think it is sad that people have to binge drink and make themselves ill to have a 'good time'.

My thoughts exactly. Drunks - be they male or female - disgust me :yuk:

Gwyneth Paltrow has claimed that British women who binge-drink are "idiots".

I think the writer may have twisted her words a bit. Notice how they quoted "idiots" but not the words "British women". It is quite possible that she was just saying that all women who binge-drink are idiots. But since she lives in the UK the writer decided to add that she was refering to British women.

She's right about that. Regardless of gender or where they live, people who binge-drink are idiots.

I dislike her as much as the next person but I highly doubt that she said this specifically about British women.
