I really need a great, stylish going out bag for fancier parties. I'd love something either clutch-looking or flap style with a detachable strap. Pochette style is good too. Any idea where I can find something? Under $500 is best, definitely under $1,000.

My dream idea for this bag is the MJ quilted east/west:

But I'm trying to check out other options before I shell out $800.

Thanks!!!

And just to give you a better idea of what I'm looking for... I'm 20 years old, a college student, and need a bag for going to fancy events (especially with the holidays coming up) and going out to bars, etc. Since I'm a student, I have a limited budget. I want something fun, but nothing that will be "out" in two seconds or so small it's useless. I love the look of clutches, but need some kind of shoulder option, especially when out at bars!

In general, BCBG is a good choice for reasonably-priced leather bags. I have the cutest cream-colored BCBG clutch with a detachable strap.

Other options:

MICHAEL Michael Kors $298:

Donald J Pliner, $156:

Kate Spade, $375:

Furla, $255:

Ferragamo $385 (yoox.com):

And, just for fun...Stella McCartney $112 (yoox):

I think the green Furla is really cute, but the Stella McCartney purse has gonna be the cutest of them all! :)

Hey everyone,

I'm buying a new bag and considering I'm not at all up to date with the bag market (i'm all about shoes...:p ), I could definitely use some advice. So, here's the deal:

What I'm looking for is a medium-large sized model to carry to class, shopping etc etc. It needs to fit my everyday stuff, but perhaps not be too large(?) since I happen to be a rather petite person. Also, I'm not necessarily looking for one of the trendiest models, at least I'd like it to last longer than one season. Basically, more towards classic than trendy, without being too boring. I'm willing to spend about $1000, preferably a little less, a bit more should I find one I really love.

Any suggestions? :flower:

I don't want an 'It' bag

I'd like a new bag, black leather would be good, quite roomy would be good too.
But I don't want an 'it' bag. No Silverado, no Paddington, no Luella or anything like that, because I'll go off it and there are too many fakes around
I do have that kind of budget to spend, though. Any suggestions?
One other thing, I really don't like logos....even little ones.

Black bags are everywhere...since you seem not wanting to own an "it" bag , i am guessing you do not want a designer bag.
Why dont you check GAP, H&M and Banana Republic? I think those places may have what your looking for.

Bottega Venetta do some lovely black woven leather bags. They're not 'it' bags but are pricey. And the logo is inside the bag. A very discreet good quality bag.

No I don't want a cheap bag.... Lots of those heavily borrow their styling from it bags (at the moment anyway)

Balenciaga bags are non logo bags and very practical..or is it that you dont like the shape? Also Gucci does plain black bags with a small plated logo on it..

You could always do Goyard. That is,if you don't mind something a bit classic in the way that Hermes is. It's actually a brilliant alternative to the overrated Vuitton and Hermes hype. They're one of the oldest(yet underrated) companies in Europe but not stale...and they're not necessarily "it" although they do have a slight cult following.

If I'm not mistaken,I think, they do carry the pieces at Harvey Nicks. I do know Colette in Paris does but it doesn't specify on the site.

What size? Ann Demeulemeester did a gorgeous one, but it's quite big.

Bottega is good, it's not very it and it's very classic and elegant. What about getting the new jardin bag, the woven bag with leather flowers, vines, and butterflies? It's really a piece of art and it's really beautiful!
