I second the Bally suggestion, they've really started to pull themselves together since a few years ago...

If I understood correctly, you guys are missing the point of "basic" as in "inexpensive".Anyway, I've posted this before, but check out Manhattan Portage. You can do what my friend did, and take off the annoying red label with a razor.

www.manhattanportage.com

I'd recommend Jake Spade, but it's overpriced crap....

what about lesportsac? ...$80

I thought "basic" means simple...without much decoration and stuff...Prada makes many "simple" nylon bags that costs a fortune

yakpak... or dickies.. or something.

I have a dickies messenger bag...I use it as my set bag (in the market for a more sturdy set bag). The dickies bag doesn't have much functionality to it. It is flimsy (sp) and doesn't have a lining. So I would pass on dickies imo.

you can make one..?
i made one for a class using a grocery paper bag for a pattern and it was pretty easy. [:

longchamp? jcrew? llbean?
vanessa bruno isnt that big in the states if you are looking for something unique..
personally i hate it but a lot of girls are into vera bradley... (if you like..)

longchamp, herve and llbean were huge when i was in DC...
here girls just use the free tote bags (cheap, ugly llbean totes) that the school gives you...

Does anyone know the name of these two gucci bags from s/s 2003?

Need Suggestions

Looking to buy a bag that can double as a baby bag. something cool but with good compartments. something along the lines of a Botkier which has the 3 compartments that i could put my stuff and baby stuff in. I usually carried Bottega V (hobo bag with no pockets) before baby but now it just gets too messy inside with so much stuff and I can't find anything. Thanks!!

Maybe this is not what you're looking for at all, but I just came across this http://www.purseket.com/ . I haven't tried it myself, but maye it's a good solution if you want to continue using your own bags, but with more pockets^_^

It doesn't have a lot of pockets, but I got a Mulberry Bayswater that I plan on stuffing and using as a diaperbag :flower:

i know kate spade isnt exactly the coolest... but they do have some diaper bags around $200... zappos.com has some diaper bags too.

check out celine's boogie bag if you want compartments.
it has three compartments (one zipped). the downside is that you wont be able to carry it over your shoulder though.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. The Kate Spade's seem so boxy..not a huge fan. but the Celine boogie bag isn't a bad idea. I'm also just tempted to go with the Botkier but i can't decide whether I absolutely LOVE it or think its hideous :)
