i also have given serious thought to this question. i think it depends on what color/kind of puffer you have. for me, i will only wear puffers that are truly warm, which means north face or moncler as far as i know. unfortunately that often mean a kind of casual and rugged look which i agree doesn't meld the best with a luxury designer bag. i think the b. moto bag goes really well with the puffer, but for example my paddington or lv alma don't look great with it. one potential way to address this, which i may try this winter, is to get a different color puffy jacket like a brown one or a beige one. those can look dressier than the typical black northface jacket....

I have a "tailored" black (or possibly really dark grey) puffer that has a sort of nicer silhoette than the north face ones.... I think, as you said, it might look ok with the moto bag... perhaps something medium-large with distressed leather (so less formal)?

Dear fellow shoppers and bag lovers I have a major problem! My birthday is in 2 weeks time and I wanted to get myself guess what - a bag! However, Im currently in between Bottega Veneta (leather woven one) and Balenciaga (weekender or shopper from AW2005)...

Which one is the right choice?

p.s. can't get both of them though...

I say Bottega. More timeless, Balenciaga is well (I don't know how to say this .... its my own personal opinion) going to be passe here pretty soon. Fakes galore and not to mention that they no longer make a "limited quantity" of bags like they used to in the past, they are now meeting everyones demands for a bag. I was number 300 something for a bag, got off the list and then called back a month or so later to be put back on and the SA reassured me I would get one if I wanted b/c they just put in another order. I personally do still own a few b bags which I am hoping i will still love, but I don't know, I'm just not feeling the love like I used too . . .

Do i get the YSL Vincennes bag in black leather, the LV epi leather alma in red, black or mono canvas, or the LV epi leather speedy 30 in red leather??

I say Vuitton Epi Speedy 30 in red leather, it's timeless, quality-made and a great shape that will match most outfits without looking too neat or too casual. It also brings some colour to your outfits.

My mom wants a designer bag but she hasn't found one that she really likes yet. She only wants one and she wants something that is timeless and classic. She hates trendy things. She hates most of my Chanel suggestions, though! What can I recommend to her? I think maybe a Coach bag would appeal to her style. Is there something else I should look into?

well, coach isn't really high end...its mid end. If i could afford a chanel, i'd have one in a heartbeat. so, i say get chanel if you can. stay away from logos! (that's why i like the epi leather). If you can, get a hermes. you can get some for 5g

i think the most useful would be a black epi speedy 30...they hold everything and are super durable... i was talking to a customer where i work because she had a small LV pochette that i thought was cute (and it was real) and she was telling me how she needed to "upgrade" because this one had been through everything. she left it on her friends car in L.A. and it got run over on the highway and lost and someone ACTUALLY turned it in. in los angeles! i was shocked, but it still looked pretty good, considering it had been run over by a car!

I currently use a normal normal bookbag for school but would love to get a real bag. I typically carry 2 large textbooks, 5 1-subject notebooks, and 2 one inch binders, so I need quite a bit of room. All of this weighs about 20 pounds, is there anything that can safley hold that much weight? It also has to fit over the shoulder. Any ideas would be great

Guessgirl, I face the exact same dilemna, I even carry the same amount of books! I use my Chloe paddington hobo (I have large size but I tested the medium and it would fit the same amount easily) to carry my books and its held up great. Mine does have the thicker leather though, I know some paddys have thinner leathers. But most are pretty durable, right? I am only worried about the hardware. I have babied it for now keeping the lock away from the crowds but in school, you never know! Maybe the saddle Paddington as the lock is removable? What about an LV bag? Although I personally have gone off them completely, I find monograms so tacky lately. I think they are the most well-made, perhaps maybe Hermes or Chanel.
