headband chic

Im loving those Givenchy bows! So cute.

Kriszti.md...
I LOVE your avvie!! I cant wait for the items with the floaty & volume backs start showing up in stores... I love it!!

Oops off topic... did I say I LOVE those bows? LOL

I think I'll pass this trend, simply because I get a headache so easily everytime I put on a headband hahaha..

For the people who get headaches: maybe the size of the headband just isn't right. I have some headbands that give me headaches, it just means they're too small for your head, so that the ends are pressing on the side of your head (which cause the headaches after a while). At least that's my experience

I've been wearing headbands for years, they're my favorite accessory and I have a whole collection, like 40  Though lately I haven't been wearing them as much, they don't seem to incorporate in my style as well as they used to.. Maybe it's time for something new ^_^

BTW, I'm new! Though I've been reading the forums for years I just started posting ^_^

i made a headband for myself using old denim cloth that i have :) i think its better if you DIY because you can tailor make to your head circumference

yep silk skin paws it lends a totally diff vibe to any old outfit! (:

i love headbands, because they're such an easy way to spice up an outfit. I especially love the way Leighton Meester was wearing them in the first season of Gossip Girl

And to add to that I hate the way she stopped wearing them. It's so wrong that she doesn't have them anymore.

I <3 headbands, they're the best thing ever, because unlike every other hairstyle they don't change all day. Clips slide out, or srunch your hair, ties make my hair feel heavy and usually losen during the day and headbands can be versatile, I like satin ones best but I also like the "jewel" ones. And the sort of hippie band ones are ok if you wear them "wrong."

I have such a dilemma. I have a thin long face that I am constantly working against and it is often too thin for headbands. PLUS my ears stick out. So my hairstyles always focus on hiding these features.

Any ideas of a headband or style that would actually work? God, I hate my features so much. I feel like I work with what I have the best I can, but it's so depressing and such a chore. :(

milada think of blair from gossip girl or givenchy ss09! you don't always have to wear your hair completely pushed back when you wear a headband. you can also wear a headband even if the rest of your hair is in a bun or some other fun updo so keep that in mind and good luck! =)

how do you guys make your headbands (the kind that is a an elastic 'loop') stay on your head without flattening your hair?? i have short hair (almost like the POB but a bit shorter) and i find it so difficult to wear headbands and keep volume. i love the look though.

Milada, the first thing you can do is experiment with volume/texture hair products and dry shampoo to add oomph to your hair. The problem that I usually see with hairbands and ears sticking out is because of thin, limp hair. I also see girls position the hairband too close behind their ears, so they jut out. Position the band so it doesn't touch your ears. As fcummi01 said, there are tons of ways to wear a hairband, not just with your hair pushed back. Here are a few popular takes on it:

There's obviously the hippieband trend worn across the forehead with loose or lightly pinned hair:

Hairband worn behind the ears but with bangs and/or layers in front:

Wider hairbands (usually stretchy) pushed right against the hairline and covering the ears.

Before I forget, Traversant had a really cute half-up hairstyle with a hairband in the "What are you wearing" thread (post #238): http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f58/what-you-wearing-today-76021-16.html
Finally, not all hairbands and ways of wearing them suit every person. For example, very wide or heavily decorated hairbands tend to overwhelm my features. Luckily, they can be found for next to nothing, and there's plenty of room for DIY, so it's easy to experiment with different styles.

You are probably right, but there really aren't any headbands for extra large heads out there. (Like the "tall" section at topshop, wouldn't that be nice :) ) I get headaches from most headbands. Some I can wear for a few hours, but if I'm the slightest bit headache prone that day, those will hurt too.

The elastic ones slide to the top of my head, because apparently not only do I have an extra large scull, I'm also a cone head.

Question

 Can a round-face girl pull off headbands?? What hairstyles would suit her better with headbands?

I love headbands, for me they are timeless, depending on the style. They always give a fresh look, even more so when they take the hair out of your face.

do you guys think it's cute??

I'm not sure if I understand correctly how that goes on your head, but regardless of that, no. It looks like a piece of an old curtain.

If I wear a headband for too long they give me headaches :( .... Also I'm agreeing, it looks like a piece of old curtain or a pair of torn victorian panties.....
